A 125 gallon aquarium that is actually 160 gallons

I have been looking into up-sizing to a large tank for several months now, and while researching tank dimensions I found that Top Fin makes a "125" gallon that actually comes to around 160 gallons due to it's dimensions being larger than that of a standard 125. I was wondering why they don't market this as a 160, as they are essentially giving away 35 gallons for free. Any insight into this would be appreciated.

Here is a link with the dimensions:

A lot of things wrong in that add. The tank is .5" longer than the stand and 4" wider so it doesn't make sense. And if you can wait until the end of November that set-up will half that price on black Friday.

Funny it says save $50 if you do in store pickup but on the right it says sold in store only and you can't buy it online and pick it up in store. If you do get it I would try to get $50 off it.

I think the dimensions are accounting for the storage space, and not the entire lwh. When I zoom in, I can see the edges hold the tank.

Thanks for your input everyone, I appreciate it.

If I can get this tank for half price by waiting until November I certainly will, that's a great deal.

Whether it is 125 or 160, this will still be the tank I'll be getting. I think it is a good deal at either capacity, and having the hood, lighting, and stand all at once is a major plus for me. My 40 gallon breeder is still open top because I can't find a lid that fits properly.

I can personally vouch that petsmart's website sucks for tank dimensions. I work there. And I don't trust the site. If it says 125 gal for what ever price they mean 125 gallon not the random dimensions listed in the description. However if the price online is cheeper than in store (and it's not a special on-line only deal) the store will price match the website price

Also just a heads up, I don't think their stands are the best. Again, I work there and I'm building my own stand for a 135g rather than buy theirs. The tanks are great tanks but just really look at the stand before you decide to buy. I know they have higher quality ones but I haven't seen those in our actual store, just listed on the website. But every store is different so yours might carry the nice stands. I'm very tactile and visual so I like to be in person for certain purchases.

I got this exact tank and stand last year at black Friday for $300. Had to drive to Shreveport, LA from South Arkansas to get it, but I've been more than happy with it.

The stand has held up well. If it weren't a good stand and fell, they wouldn't continue selling it. It's a top seller.

It also is a 125 with standard footprint. I'd say wait for black Friday and get the deal I got!

The dimensions on my Petsmart 29gal were the dimensions of the box!

Try Fosters and smith. They have a large selection of glass tops at good prices.
