9g Flex Betta Tank.

Last weekend I started a 9g tank for Redfish my female betta. She was getting tail nipped in the 55g so I moved her. This tank is so beautiful. I love it so far.

I added a seeded 20g sponge filter from the 55g in the top sponge hole and used the regular Matrix in the bottom hole. It has not spiked anything in the last week and she has been in there since Tuesday. I put the Jager heater in the third compartment with the pump. Added some Vals from the 55g.

The flow was too strong for a betta so I used 2 small black pre filter sponges over the outlets. This is working great but I am getting surface film from the sand I think. I added 2 of the large rocks from the shrimp tank for some extra bb. I got the Anubia too.

Thursday I added a Lotus plant and some Rotallia Indica? She LOVES the Lotus.

Her tail is healing up quite nicely in the last 4 days. The surface film is bothering me so today I got a small air pump and put a stone in to clear it up. I also threw in the bag of carbon in the first chamber to see if that helps too.

I moved some stuff around last night and I LOVE the new layout of the plants. Now I just hope they will survive. ;)

Looks great, but I already told you that once before! Just watch out for those Vals, they will spread like wildfire in your tank soon enough. "Hippity Hoppity your now my Property"! :D

I still haven’t found a red racer at any of my lfs! But I’m to cheap to buy any online and pay shipping.
Mine has them all the time now. They don't ship fish though. Never has.

Looks awesome! Every time I see the name Redish, I just start cracking up. Don't worry though, I am also bad with names

If I was thinking before I would have named her Mordrid because she's A Hongry. (Gunslinger reference lol)

Absolutely beautiful setup! That lotus is impressive! Bet my lil Rally would like to rest his fancy fins on those leaves.

Beautiful scape!!! Hope the Lotus makes it, it looks absolutely cool.
Curious question, does the flex shape show any distortion of the tank content? I had a halfmoon for a bit as a QT and it drove me crazy.

No when you look in. it looks just like a square tank.

Looks good, I love those Flex tanks. Output flow in fluval tanks is often an issue for bettas, but can usually be worked around.

Where did you get the branch?

My lfs.

I put the small pre filter sponges on the outlets so it has way less flow.

I put some Thrive root tabs in last weekend and both the Rot. Indica and the Lotus have shoots coming out. The bigger leaves still seem to be melting. This one is still going to be a mystery for a bit still I guess. The Indica seems like it is going really well. JLAquatics I may have found another plant that likes my water! lol

Despite the larger leaves melting, new healthy looking leaves show a great sign of the plants adjusting to your water! It is still quite early to tell if they will truly thrive in your tank like the Vals, but I got my fingers crossed for you. ;)

That little teeny sprout on the right of the last pic is the leaf here. It grew a lot over the weekend. I hope these make it they are so pretty.
