90 gallon diy sump- new at this HELP

I am currently setting up a new 90 gallon tank with a 35-40 gallon long as a sump. I made my overflow (as pictured) and was wondering how many gallons per hour I could get it to pump out. My water pump return pumps 400 gallons per hour says the box. I made the overflow following a youtube video by "today we make". He mentions the half inch pipe at the top moves about 200 gallons per hour. Which would mean I would have more water going into the tank than I do coming out of the tank. So I was wondering if I made that top pipe an inch in diameter (instead of the half inch it currently is) if that would give me the correct flow that I need. Please I need opinions

 

What is the diameter of all the overflow piping? Your water will only drain as fast as the smallest diameter allows. 1 inch pipe should be able to drain 600gph iirc, but that info is pretty old now I think. I tend to go conservative with stuff. Either way, 1 inch should move more than you need with your pump.

Thanks for the reply! The pipe is currently half an inch so I was thinking go up to an inch.

 

Should work fine at 1" then. You always want the pump to be the limiting factor, never the piping or tubing for the drain.
