75 Gal Aquarium

We are looking to get a 75 gal aquarium for our office.
I'm looking at different tanks online, and am wondering if anyone has an opinion on what brand to go with? I'm not familiar enough with any of them.

So far we're thinking this one:

But it has some bad reviews. Opinions?

The problem with these kits is they come with cheap equipment that you probably want to replace . Also do you need one now? Petco has there $1 per gallon sale coming in March or April. Thus you can buy a tank for $75 and a glass hood for $40 thus you will save $85

Good to know! We aren't in a huge rush, so I think I'll wait and keep an eye out for that sale!

As for the tanks themselves, there aren't really any large pros/cons to certain brands over others. Unless you are looking for low iron glass or black silicone or other pricey special upgrades, for the most part a tank is a tank. The difference comes in the filtration, heaters, lights, stand, etc.

I will also mention that all petcos do not have the 75 gallons on the $ per Gallon sales. So if/when they have them make sure your petco is one that honors that price.

Oh, my bad! Yeah, not all stores sell 75 , however I suggest you talk to the manager to see if he can get a hand of one! Some will specially order one for you during the sale!

I wound not recommend the topfin kits at all. It's Petsmart's brand and the equipment, like mentioned above, is very cheap and not worth it. I had the unfortunate bad experience with my first tank and everything stopped working and the filters are not at all up to par for he size of the tanks they are sold with. Good luck!

The kits look great for the price, until you figure out that the filtration is inadequate, subpar lighting for plants, and a marginal heater.

Also as long as you are looking for good deals, check your craigslist near you for aquariums for sale and you may get lucky.

I got a new 30 gallon with a led hood and stand for $20 on craigslist... It was a 3-hour drive though... I still classify it as worth it.

Do you or someone else in the office have aquarium experience? For that size, I would definitely try and get the tank itself on sale and then hand pick the other components. You will want 1 or 2 cannister filters, a couple of heaters, etc.

Yes we've got a smaller aquarium in another room, but we'd like a large one for the front reception area.
I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist, if I find something I'll certainly be posting on here to get it set up correctly!
