60 Gallon 16th Birthday Tank Build!!

Hey b&b. Based on your experience just now how much would you think I would need for my 120? I think the footprint is 60×18

18 inches wide? 175 pounds at least, IMO.

Is it just me, or I hate whenever my substrate gets messed up, or pushed around?
I have a sensitivity in my aquascapes, but your tanks are very pretty.

Lol, the canister made it pile up on the right when we had to cut the hose, but I kind of like it uneven. Looks more natural.

Hey b. I had some plants with algae on them so I figured I'd put them in the community tank and see if anyone would eat it and sure enough they went to work. But the behavior that occurred during which made me want to show you lol. Check out this juvenile Molly! She bosses everyone including the 3 spot if you make it to the end

Testing out the lighting! The bulbs from lowes unfortunately didn't fit.

So, I just re-dosed ammonia back to 3 ppm. I just wait until the ammonia and nitrites turn to 0, then do a big WC right before I get the fish for the tank to get rid of all the nitrates, correct?

How many does of ammonia have you done?
I usually like to dose about 5-6 times, getting it to turn back to 0ppm in less than 24 hours as I can.

My 1o gallon processed 3ppm in 14 hours.

Second time dosing. Dosed as soon as the filter was started up, then dosed again today. The ammonia before I re-dosed today was the color between .1ppm and .25ppm. Now it's back to 3ppm (second dose).

I bought the same tank. Before setting it up I took some time and painted the stand and tank frame white along with painting the back of the tank (outside) black. With the leds it comes with I love it! Looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.

Nice! Our house is mostly dark browns so we kept it black. White looks lovely, though!

 

Good news! My tank is cycled in terms of ammonia eating bacteria! Yay!

I just have to get the nitrite eating ones to propogate a bit more then I'm good to go!

Can process 3ppm of ammonia in 24 hours and around 2ppm of nitrites in 24 hours.

 

My favorite Anubias nana is in!!! Yay!!!

Will be adding my prized Anubias coffeefolia in a moment too!
