That sounds like an awesome tank! I love bristlenose plecos and mollies, although I have never had any

I've never had mollies in a proper setup, so cannot speak to that, but bristlenose plecos are super fun!

Like they chase off other fish who want to eat the same things lol. I got rid of most of mine but I still have 1 juvenile who bosses around the other platy juveniles. She's not horrible or anything. I just find platys slightly less bossy lol

If I wasn't the one that got it I'd be jealous too! I always felt jealous when I looked at all the big tank builds from other people! Now I finally have my own!

We'll be getting some probably this weekend. No plants yet.
The light came with some bulbs that we'll keep for emergencies.

Nah, livebearers can be super bossy. I think they should have room to their own in a 60, though! Here's hoping!

I know, some of you guys don't like them because they're a genetic defect, but here's my stance. Yes, it's wrong that they're in the hobby, but no one's ever gonna stop breeding them because they sell so well and let's face it, they're cute. So why not buy these guys and give them good homes?

I've had 3 of them over the years, but my last was my favorite. Black with silver marbling, his name was Boris. And he was pretty big and round for a balloon molly. I wasn't going to even get him (wanted a platy) but he kept following me around and I couldn't leave him there.

Congratulations on the tank ! Your going to love the Fluval 406, I have the 306 on my 55, they are the best canisters so efficient and effective. I recently got into Molly's too,


I got 4 green and 2 orange, someone blurted some fry out and 4 have made it past the vulnerable stage lol.

You'll love it once you get used to it, but yeah intimidating to start.

 

I've done all I can with "The Beast". When my dad gets home we'll cut the hose and figure all that out.

 

Might suggest a pan/tub like I use because they can be a challenge to crack open for maint. Never had a leak otherwise, but this way I know I'm safe.

 

My sister and I are getting a 60 gallon for our birthdays in November!!

We're going to cycle and get it decorated, and hopefully start stocking it by my sister's birthday!

Using the driftwood for the 60, the IAL for my bettas, and the seaweed for whoever will eat it. Probably the goldies! I appreciate it!!

 

Wow I just saw this thread and it looks great! I'm 15 and just got my first tank (55 gal) and it's awesome that you're getting such a cool setup! Definitely watching this thread. Good luck!

Mine was just one big hose, so we had to cut it to make it two.
