How exciting! Do you have any idea what you might want to do with it? What kind of fish are you and your sister interested in? (I'm just curious). Also what live plants might you want?

We're thinking Pearl gouramis (trio) as the centerpiece fish, a school of rummynose tetras, a trio of guppies, mollies, and swordtails, a blue eyed lemon bn pleco pair, poooooosibly a pair of Apistogramma hongsloi, and some daisy's ricefish (sister's choice) if we can find them. We'll have to stagger the stocking obviously, but that's what we hope to have at the end.

We're also getting mystery snails because they're awesome.

Haven't decided on the plants yet. Will likely be ordering off Liquid Creations.

Buce Plant is also a great place to order plants. Even hardscape as well. They have probably the largest/ best plant selection I've seen.

What kind of canisters do you guys find are good? Preferably under $100. I think I'd need a 300 GPH for this tank?

I like the fluval canisters. The fluval 406 is what I recommend, but it is around $200. I have not used other brands, but at the same time, I have never had an issue with a fluval canister filter. I think they produce a sturdy and reliable canister, but I am sure you can find a cheaper and efficient canister that is cheaper.

I did consider that one. We think we're going to go with the Marineland Magniflow 360. It's kind of in the middle in terms of GPH and price.

Okay, if you do get the marineland, let me know how it works (If you want, of course). I just have never used one and am interested in the marineland canisters. They make decent hang on the back filters that some people swear by, so I am sure that it will be good.

Are you thinking of ordering the fish online? Or locally? Also did your Aquarium come with a heater, or did you plan on getting that separate? I only ask because if you do not have one, I recommend Eheim. (Of course this is only my opinion).

Awesome to hear!! That's great! I'll check all the filters again. This is so hard!

Both. Pearl gouramis, guppies, and rummynose we can easily get locally.

Hongsloi, that color of BN, and the colors of mollies and swordtails I want I need to get online.

Happy Soon Birthday
I've used a Marineland C-360 for several years and never had a problem with it.
The Magnaflow is newer than mine, I've always kept a backup set of o-rings for mine, they do wear out sometimes.

Happy early birthday and congratulations on the tank!
Have you looked at sunsun canisters? I've never used them before myself but I have heard a lot of good things about them from people on here and from what I've heard they are pretty cheap.

Thank you! We did, but we're going with the Fluval 406.

I got a 20 gallon long for my 16th birthday.

I can't decide what I am more jealous of - you getting a tank that size and quality, or you getting to be 16. Enjoy both!

20 longs are great too! To be fair, they did want a living room tank at 'some point'. This being a birthday gift just sped up that slow process.

Wow I wish my mom wanted a tank, I have a 90, 20, multiple fives and threes, 10 and a thirty and she's so annoyed about it. I'm actually turning 13 soon too. Happy birthday and good luck with the tank! I love gouramis, especially the kissing gouramis

They're more into saltwater, but after showing some gorgeous fish from here they came around. Also price. Saltwater is so expensive.

That's awesome you have so many tanks!

Yeah the twenty is really old, and I got the 90 for free, I love saltwater but I’m not trying it until at least college, to risky
