6 praecox dwarf rainbow fish in a 29g?

I'm trying to plan my purchase when I move my 8 ember tetras into my 29g tank. Would a school of 6 dwarf rainbows work? Is there enough space? The tank dimensions are 30in wide,12in deep, and 18 in high. Thanks for your input!

I think a 29 gal. is plenty big for a small group of Dwarf Neon Rainbows.

They’ll love your 29. I wish I could get some but they are insanely pricey where I live-14$ for one

They are quite a bit bigger and more boisterous than embers. What about a species of blue eye rainbowfish?

Thanks for the input that the dwarfs would fit!

I’ll have to look into the blue eye rainbows. Haven’t heard of them. I thought all other rainbow fish would be too big. I’ll check it out, thanks!

Blue eyes (pseudomugils) are the smallest of the Rainbowfish. Probably not technically Rainbowfish at all.

29/30 gallon is the minimum tank size for the Dwarf Neon Rainbows, so a school will fit. Dwarf Rainbows can be a bit boisterous for small fish like Embers to handle, though. They won't hurt them but their quick, frenetic swimming style may be intimidating for the Embers. If it were me I'd look into smaller, more placid Rainbows like Threadfin Rainbows (Iriatherina werneri). Even though male Rainbows are prettier, they do best with 2 females per male in groups of at least 6 of their own kind.
