6 Gallon Shrimp Tank Build

I am already planning what I am going to be doing with my rimless cylinder 6 gallon tank after the current fish in there pass (all of them are quite old). I have decided on a low tech planted shrimp tank (plant suggestions welcome ) Here is the stuff I plan to have in the tank:
- Tall piece of driftwood
- Flat rock
- Maybe soil (The tank already has a nice substrate)
- Java moss
- Java fern
- Amazona Compacta
- Some sort of carpet plant
- RCS
- 2-3 sparkling gourami OR 1 betta
- Heater
- Filter

Thoughts? Advice? I will update this thread as I get to working on the tank.

So ... I would term this a fish tank with shrimp. Know that both those will eat shrimplets more than likely so you might not have much of a growth in your shrimp colony. Depending on the fish, they might also harass the adult shrimp as well.

I have little ember tetras in mine. They really are quite cute and they don't bother anything. Have you considered those?

I have dwarf guppy males in with mine right now. They don't bother the adults or babies, but are quite interested in their shrimp pellets.

I was on the edge about the fish. Dwarf male guppies don’t sound like a bad idea.

I'd consider male endlers instead of guppies in a 6g. Their bioload is smaller, they're smaller so you could have more, and they're less likely to bother the shrimp. Very pretty and active fish too.

I don’t want fish that are too active. This is going to be a tank that sits in my room, so I want it to be calming. I also don’t like the jerky movements that certain fish make when they swim, so I’m also looking for fish that don’t do that lol

Maybe not endlers then. They're always on the move!

Micro rasboras (e.g. bororas brigittae/chilI rasboras) are tiny, pretty red fish. They don't bother shrimp either and (in my experience at least) they're not as rambunctious as endlers. Not jerky swimmers either; more gliders through the water, if that makes sense.

Plastic fish? ... okay I'm sorry but you are making this hard. Small shrimp-safe fish tend to be more skiddish. It's a survival thing.

I agree with embers, mine do great with rcs. Mine are also slow moving, just kind of hover about. A tad skittish during water changes but what isn’t?
