    Hey all,
i'm going to be restocking my 56 gallon tank eventually and i wanted to start looking at my options.

I definitely either Kuhli loaches or some sort of semi aggressive cichlids as the fish to "build the stock" around.

My tank is already cycled with a marineland 150 and aquaclear 50.

What are the dimensions of the tank? Your filters are too small for this tank! Right now your total gph is 350(150+200), what you want is 448. I would suggest to get a AC 110.

    18"L x 30"W x 24"H

Would an AC 50&70 be ok then? If not i might try a DIY canister.

    Could I do:
    - 1 Rainbow cichlid
    - 1-2 Pearl Gourami
    - 16 Rummynose
    - 16 Kuhli Loaches

Would the rainbow cichlid eat the smaller fish?

That would be fine. The rainbow cichlid would not eat the smaller fish.

Are hatchetfish compatible with these fish or no? or maybe something to help with algae even though i haven't had a problem with it in this tank yet.

Yes, you could add hatchetfish to this tank stock, I'd do 10.
As for the algae thing, just get nerite snails.

    Alright so something like
    1 Rainbow cichlid
    1-2 pearl gourami
    12 Rummynose
    14 kuhlis
    10 hatchets
    1 nerite

I think i'd need to have a good bit plants. Do they need to be real?and is there any breeding things I should be aware of?

I wouldn't be concerned with breeding with these fish.
The plants don't need to be real, but real ones are much better looking.

I will look into some lighting and plants. Thank ya :) I'll probably stay with fake plants in there for now :)

How long could my tank run with any fish in it and keep my cycle?

Did you have fish in there before? What did you have for an ammonia source?

A comet and 2 dojo loaches. I plan to build a pond of some sort and make sort of pond for the goldy and loaches.
