55g Tank Ammonia 0.50 Ppm

Hello guys I have a 55 gallon tank that is 3 to 4 weeks old just did a water test ammonia is at 0.50 ppm
Nitrite 0 nitrate showing very lil.should I do a water change will cycling?

I have a Oscar and a jack Dempsey

Ya I know I should of waited but I check my water daily...I also got a seeded sump sock filter from my local fish store a few weeks ago and put it in the back of my Marine land Emperor 400 bio wheel

If you have prime dose that and change water when /if you get to 1ppm.

But prime right into the tank water?

Yup .Dose for tank volume.
Ammonia will still register on test but will have been converted.The prime works for 48 hours so keep testing and change or redoes as needed.
I like to let tanks get to 1ppm then change while cycling.You feed the bacteria some .Fish safety should come first though so if fish look disturbed change water.
