Hello, I am a teenage fish keeper that has had a 29 gallon tank for over a year and have upgraded to a 55 gallon tank. I already have my filter cycled and need to buy some more equipment to truly start putting everything together. I want to move most of my fish from my 29 to the 55,

My 29 gallon stocking is:
2 4 inch Koi Angels (Pair)
4 serpae tetras
4 melon barbs
3 zebra loaches
1 2.5 inch Picus catfish

By the way the barbs and tetras have never messed with the fins of the angels.

I would love to get suggestions on what I could add to fill up a 55 gallon tank. Also I want to use a planted tank substrate, any suggestions on a cheap yet good choice would be appreciated. Fish I’m interested in adding are rainbows, tetras, and many other freshwater fish. Suggest any fish that would work with the ones I am currently keeping.

Additionally, I would also like to hear any suggestions for what fish I should put in my 29 gallon tank. I’m thinking of making it a live breeder tank.

Thank you so much for reading and I appreciate any suggestions.

Here is a picture of the 29 gallon now:

Good job! Very nice looking tank & your fish and plants look very healthy.
My Koi Angels are tetra & barb killers - never knew they could swim so fast and hit a fish so hard.
Really, they're vicious! Looking forward to seeing your new tank.

Cool set up.

For the 55:
2 Angels
8 Serpae
5 Zebra loaches
6 Melon Barbs
1 Pictus
then maybe add 8 Dwarf Neon Rainbows.
Basically more of the same. Btw i've read Pictus are predators so I don't know how well the loaches will do long term.
