Hey everyone, have not posted in a while. Just picked up a 55 gallon tank the other day. After I brought it home, I realized that the bottom frame was cracked in 3 places. Not only that but is was sitting outside for a while, lots of dirt and rocks in the frame.

I was going to order new frames for the top and bottom, but I would rather diy the frames with wooden ones. How difficult can this become? I figured just measure out a 1x1 piece of wood for each side and make a slot for the glass and silicone.

Any thoughts? Or if its inconceivable, where is a good place to order some frames. Dimensions are 48" long, 21" high and 12" deep.

I personally don’t know myself, so I’ll just bump this up for others to answer

Saw that and another site. I want to try something like this, but not as bulky and to stain it to where it matches our entertainment center.

I wouldn't trust a tank of this size that's supposed to have a rim, if it didn't have one.
