So my old 55 gal tank sprung a small drip in the top corner....
So of coarse I freaked out rushed out and bout a new tank....
So I was watching joey's Videos about resealing a tank I looked all my seams over seem to be good So I stripped all the old silicone out cleaned did all the proper steps to reseal from the inside Been curing for almost a week now....
My ?s are What are your guys thoughts on not breaking the whole tank down and redoing the seams as well as interior seal
I'm not in ? of my craftsmanship and reseal job I know I did adequate and can't wait to water test for sure and have a another 55 setup
I'm just scared of a blow out I guess

The caulking holding the glass together are structural. The sealant inside the tank keeps the water in. I’ve resealed hundreds. The only times I’ve ever broken one down completely was when the caulking was failing. It was either crumbling or just not holding. But if you stripped all of the old sealant and the caulking wasn’t compromised, resealing is all you need to do.
The only issue I have with your reseal job is you didn’t post pictures. Now, how can I wake my hubby up if there’s nothing to make him look at? Hmmm?

It looks great to me. I scraped it to nothing inside cleaned with acetone then alcohol and laid it to it. I didn't tape it. But I smoothed it pretty good

It looks pretty good, better then what the guy did on my 100 gallon. One day I may redo the silicon on that tank.

Between substrate and water you're looking at over 600 lbs of weight

Sounds like a great job. (I never taped unless the tank was for someone else). Can’t wait to hear all about the scaping and finbabies! Have you seen Max’s tank? I’m so jealous of the plants!
Thank you for the pics!

I have more coming in next week, I'm working on switching my 55 gallon over to a sand bottom. I have some left over BDBS from the 150 build, so I figured I would stock up on plants too. I never figure out the scaping until I have the things in hand. Some how I feel that there will be some moving around of driftwood and plants from the current 2 sand bottom tanks to the 55. None of my tanks are actually planned out they just happen as I go along.

The way they should be.

Where did you find the instructional videos that you mention? YouTube? I have a tank that has a small leak on a bottom corner and I need to figure out what to do to try to save it. Can’t afford a new tank at this point.

Thanks,
Vic
