Do you have a plan in place if they hatch ?

Now that I think of it no... Lol
But I do have a spare 10 gallon I might use to hold them in and I will have to look around for somewhere to take them or I will try to sell them. The only bad thing is I know how hard Discus fry is, like water changes every day, feeding 6 times per day, and etc.

I think a 20 would be better. If the wigglers become swimmers they will need their parents slime to feed off of at first. Also keep an eye on the parents at this time one may start eating the fry. So it may need to go back to the original tank. Good luck.

Ended up failing, yesterday all the eggs were white but it was brown for the first 3 days which is great!

With the countless times mine have spawned, only once did all the eggs eventually turn white. I figured the male did not fertilize them. Normally, there are always a few.
I am tiring of them eating the eggs.

I am tempted to send my pair to coralbandit see if it his water and they get further than wigglers one time.. Or just my fish.

Learning all the time.

Isn't he also a new yorker ? Maybe you could run a hose from his house and sell it ?

Lol New York’s pretty big he’s at least 200 miles away. Would a garden hose work? I got some rams from him and qt’d them in a 5g. Made the mistake of spilling some of his water into the tank. Within 2 day all 3 pairs laid eggs . Should be a warning on his bags!!!

GAH!
Discus had eggs again but not where I wanted them to...
Instead of laying them on the UV light cover, they layed them on the intake tube for my canister...

Word of warning.
Be careful when doing prolonged maintenance! If you leave your arm in there longer than 5 minutes they may spawn on your arm

Yea one of my angels always does that and she knows when i do a water change they will be exposed to air....

To funny while doing a water change yesterday I decided to move some plants. With my arm in the water the rams started biting the hairs on my arm. Within a min all the discus were pulling at the hairs and I had to pull my are out. Guess they thought they were black worms. New challenge now when changing water .

Yeah so I went crazy with the duckweed from the discus tank and hopefully they enjoy it. I will have to get at least 6 to 10 more because they only had two. Also second picture is just a mystery snail I decided to grab as well. Temp is currently 83.5 which is almost deadlock the same.

Hey guys,
Sorry I haven’t been updating this in a while but all the discus seem to look healthy! I am just a bit worried about my rose red.
It’s not that he isn’t healthy or anything, he eats and is pretty healthy all around but I feel that he is at the bottom of the pecking order. He is bullied a bit and mostly hangs out near the Rummynose tetra, or the 3 amigos. (Blue, white, and yellow) Here he is,

Just my main concern is that he is at the bottom of the pecking order.

I'm one that loves the blue but you already know my bias

I went back and looked at your rose red to see the contrast between then and now and the stress bar are far more pronounced currently. The good news is that there is an easy fix. You need to break sightlines. Manzi wood works perfectly for this or a large rock or two with no sharp edges.

Discus are fast but not nimble. In my experience the discus being chased/bullied learns to shake off aggression pretty easily with a break in sightlines. Also making the chosen spawn area more "private" seems to help with aggression.

I hope some of the above helps.

Also what are your nitrates like with the duckweed?

Thanks! Figured you would like the blue.

Ok, this should be pretty easy! My wisteria has gotten pretty big with time, I could move that a bit more to the center of the breeding "station" and that should help a little. I do have a few pieces of driftwood I need to "cure" and a few rocks, I will have to check the type though so I do not do anything wrong. I am not currently at my tank right now, but I will be there Monday (They are still being fed though) I think so I can give that a check for you on Monday! Duckweed has been growing a lot and it is really easy to take out with the flow, I also have moved a few to the QT for the snails.

I like those names! Flamingo would be a really good name, once I figure out the sex and everything.

I would go for Omega

In greek mythology means "War" or "Been through war" depending on who is doing the translation.

Went to my LFS and ended up picking up fish. They had Rummynose but way too expensive for me. Take a guess! I’ll have pictures once I get them in QT.

All in! FinalFins was correct! Golden Rams, I’ll get a picture once they settle in a bit more. Only thing I see is that one of them has battered fins, but that should be fixable.

I got mine from Kenny! I love Rose Red's, and the changes from the stress bars are pretty cool. I cannot wait until I get the rams in as well!
