Well this all sounds good! The only thing that I can help with is RNT. Aqua Huna has them for cheap. $25 for 8 plus $12.99 shipping. Not bad if you ask me.

Ok so this is mostly my fault due to not reading the instructions...

So the impeller is very loud at times which did annoy me to an extent, I was done with it so I unplugged it thinking that nothing would happen since there was no power. 3 days pass and today I thought since I was doing water changes I’d do that while my 29 gallon fills up. I’m thinking I’ll just go in there and bump the impeller up since it was loose, I start to open it up and then boom. Water starts to leak everywhere I mean a few good gallons and I stupidly tried to put the barrel back on but then didn’t work. If I would known that the latch on the intake/outtake tube I would of turned it and no more water would of came out. So we now dried everything but it still a bit wet, the fish tank is about 3/4 full so the fish are fine. But we ended up taking the whole tube thing off instead of pulling the lever because I didn’t know... But if you guys wanted to know the 4 Rummynose Tetras are doing fine, I have the heater and the air pump running right now as well as my sponge filter that has almost all my BB on it. So that’s good, but I tried to move the heater down when it was still hot... But anyways everything that I need is on the tank and I’ll have to set it back up maybe this weekend. I do have another canister filter which is the Pennplex I haven’t set up yet, but I think the tank should be fine.

I should be fine to get discus once the filter is back up because everything is cycled unfortunately. Really sucks that I had it all set up and perfect and this happens...

Just take out of this always read the instructions and don’t touch hot heaters!!!

NC122606 The good news is no fish were lost.

I'm also not good with reading instructions.

Might as well as update right now!

Placed an order from Kenny’s and here is what I ended up getting

1. Rose Red Discus
2. Neon Sapphire Discus
3. White Butterfly Discus
4. Blue Tiger Turquoise Discus
5. Golden Lollipop Discus
6. Pidgeon Snakeskin Discus

So I’ll receive them around mid March and will post pictures then, just got to get that filter back up running.

Also got to get the food ordered so I’ll get that done.

Anyways here is a picture of my bumblebee catfish to hold you off...

Guess who’s back in town?

Got an algae kind of issue because my filter was gone for so long. Temperature appears 80.8 right now and should rise a bit over night with the heater back on.

Update:

Coronavirus has made Dewine close all K-12 schools in Ohio so...

Here are my plans for the time being,

Discus Update:
The Discus should be almost ready to be shipped out to me as it is mid-march about now! Not sure the exact date but somewhere around the sixteenth?

Food:
I am getting everything ready so I might order the following foods for my discus,
Freeze-Dried Blackworms (150g) (100 Loose) (50 cubed) (Main Food)
Freeze-Dried Blackworms with Spinach (50) (Making this a small portion since the spinach as a very slight amount of enhancer but it shouldn't affect the discus if I feed loosely throughout the weeks.)
Frozen Bloodworms (Not sure of how much but I will feed this maybe once every 2-3 days.)
Freeze-Dried Bloodworms (This is only if I run out of blackworms or something happens and I have to feed them something.)
Earthworms (I understand that I cannot feed them whole even though it would be tug-of-war it probably wouldn't work out. So I will soak the worm in a paper towel for a few days and then freeze the worm, that will led me to frozen earthworms which I will then cut up into bits and feed (harsh?))
Red Wigglers: (These will probably be similar to the Earthworms in feeding schedule, mostly a snack.)

29 Gallon Redo:
I also plan to redo my entire 29 gallons with a substrate change, I will go with black gravel more likely than not. All the fish will be going into a 10 gallon for a few hours with my two cycled filters so they should be fine for the time being. I have a little moss ball container which I will put a few holes into and insert the shrimp so they do not get eaten by my bumblebee or pearl gourami. Hopefully, it goes smoothly and I hope I do not find a Clown Pleco corpse, (Clown Pleco has been missing for a very long time so I am assuming it is dead.).

Algae:
I might get a AA Aquarium Green-Killer-Machine to combat the algae in the 54, it is not bad but I just do not want it to be bad like the 29 gallons. It is mostly brown algae and it should be easy to scrape, but not when it is on the substrate. But then again the filter I have has a UV in it, so not sure if I should even get one for the 54.

If I think of anything else then I will let you guys know.
Stay safe and healthy.

I will have to get better light soon, I can probably get a better picture when it is night time.

But it looks pretty similar to the one in the previous picture, algae on the sand and some on the glass. It should be easy to contain right now.

What is your idea to scape?
I would really love to get a HUGE piece of driftwood that looks like a trunk of a tree with roots. Almost like this one,
I feel like the corner will give me a lot of options with that kind of wood, I will then scape around it and see how it turns out. The sponge filter is only in there because I am trying to get the canister Fully cycled so it can run of its own. So I think I like that scape so far!

Just really a centered piece of that.

Ah, cool. I'm trying to do a 'root' theme in mine too.

I didn't know you had an Asian bb catfish. Thought it was a SA. Great looking fish.

Clown?
Yeah! Had to make sure it wasn’t the big one.

Nope, no clown and nothing to show that he was there...

All done! How do you suggest I add back the fish? The temp is about 3° higher in the 29 because I forgot to but the heater on... I even had it plugged in but I love the tank.

Finally finished! That really makes me feel so much better about the tank, I hated waking up and looking at it with the tank all dirty and stuff. I am just so happy I decided to do this!!!

Crystal Clear! I feel like I have given the fish much more room to explore and more places to go! I love it honestly!!!

I am guessing they are diatoms on my sand bed and they should go away soon. I just put in the UV, so...
Discus tomorrow, I should be able to post it in the morning may be at 11 - 12 AM EST. Also, I might not feed tomorrow since I just got them or does anyone think I should be feeding them? Also, acclimation will probably be me just temperature acclimating because of shipping but do you think I should drip acclimate them as well?

When I got my last discus they came across the country so between 12-24hrs. My seller said to temp acclimate them than spill both out of there bags into a bucket. Remove and add to another bucket with tank water let si5 for about 5-10min than remove from bucket by hand and add them to the tank.
