5 male guppies.

I just finished acclimatising my 5 male guppies to my 7.5gal. They are all sticking together and have explored one side of the tank but not the other. I'm sure they will soon though. I got 2 blue and black guppies and 3 orange, yellow and white guppies. I've already named them. Don't ask me why I named them these names, but these are the names that came to my head while looking at them.

2 blue and black guppies - Spike and Mac
3 orange, yellow and white guppies - Joe, Junior and Sam

Junior is smaller than the others, which is why I called him Junior. And I called Spike, Spike, because his top fin sticks up where as none of the others do. I don't know why Inamed the rest what I did. The names just came to my head. ;D

I'm really happy now. So far everything is fine, except I think some of Juniors' fins have been nipped. :-\ Probably happened at the store. He swims fine though. Should I just wait to see if it heals by itself?

Thanks

hehe. LOL! ;D I like Spike Lee, I might change his name to that.

Thanks Carol. I will do a water change tomorrow, b/c my NitrAtes are still high (as you answered in the other post). I wan't to make sure he is OK so I will try to keep their water as clean as possible.

Here are a few pics of them all.

Unfortunately, Mac died this morning, so now I only have 4. :'(

The others are doing great though.

Yes I am sure that Mo would like that. (Of course you will want to quarantine that one too) I would change part of the water in your 7.5 gallon now and use some Melafix for 7 days to take care of any little bit of possible fin rot there may be in the tank. Then maybe the other blue/black ones fins will finish healing and by the time Mo goes into the tank all will be completely back to normal. I am truly sorry about Mac. :'(

Thanks Rose. I've done a water change on the tank already. I will start with the Melafix tomorrow, and hope for the best.

Gwenz

I've got a new guppy, and named him Bruno. ;D

I've started adding the Melafix today. On the bottle it says to add it for 3 days when you have new fish, but should I do it for 7 days any way just in case?

Thanks

Since you are dosing a tank where there was a sick fish who died, I think the full 7 day course should be followed. Ordinarily the 3 days would be fine and I love this stuff. It is the best thing to prevent and take care of small problems. I have had the best luck when a fin is nipped or torn with this and the vitamins regenerate them quickly. My fish have been well cared for with this stuff. Between it and Pimafix for the parasitic infections unless the problem is a large one those two can make up your whole pharmacy.
