I’ve got this 5 gallon that just needs to look good!
Here’s a bridge history through pictures

-1 year ago, then I moved and hat to restart tank, no algae problems.

-6 months ago after I planted it, no algae problems.

-5 months, I left light on over vacation and as you can see, big mistake.

-3 months ago, new scape. (I unknowingly put dead java moss with a bunch of algae on it in the tank). Big algae problems 2 months ago.

-1 week ago I drained it. Relocated gravel somewhere else. Let it sit for 5 days. Cleaned it thoroughly yesterday, and today here is how it looks.

That is my plan for the hardscape.
I wanted this to be a type of iwagumI style aquarium, but I have not had much luck in the past with carpeting, so instead I will be doing sand up front and to the right. And the only plants will be in the back middle and left corner along with some undecided moss on and along the rocks and wood. If you have any ideas to make this tank look better please let me know, also if you have a nano aquarium (under 10 gallons) feel open to posting your pictures under this thread.
Thanks!

I think the current rocks and wood look good, if this were me then I would pretty much fill in any blank spaces with plants and create a jungle type look.

Do you think I have enough in the hardscape to make it look.. jungle-y..? My problem typically is exactly that such as my old 10 g for example

If you were to look up “Baron Lam Aquascape” pm YouTube you could find someone with 3 videos on his Channel. I really like each one of his aquascapes. That would be what I am looking for in this aquarium.

I actually got an opening to run to the store and get my needed supplies so I went ahead and got the hardscape in.

Lemme know what you think and plant suggestions for the back left would be appreciated. I’m interested in blyxa japonica for there. I plan to get some sort of java moss or Christmas moss or maybe even some terrestrial moss that I have collected around the rocks and possibly on the wood as well.
I’ll also probably throw in some floating plants eventually.
