5 gallon filtration?

Hey everyone! So I have a 5 gallon that I'm going to set up to experiment with some live plants and possibly add a betta to later on in the winter. I have found that my sponge filter simply does not keep it clean. I use an Aquaclear 20 in my 10 gallon that has six ember tetras and five young neons, and I never *knock on wood* have any issues! The tank seems to stay much cleaner. I know that the Aquaclear 20 is listed for 5 gallons-20 gallons, but I wanted to know if it would be too much filtration (if that's possible) for that small of a tank? I really love that filter but I can't seem to find a smaller filter that isn't an internal corner filter (which doesn't work with my tank). I like the design of the Aquaclear 20, how it hangs over the side of the tank (not sure what you'd refer to that as, sorry!), but I simply cannot find a smaller model. Any opinions on getting another one for my 5 gallon? If you know of any other filters that are the same type and would be good for my tank, let me know! Thanks!

An AquaClear 20 would be too much filtration, at x20 GPH. They have AquaClear 10 but I have never seen those personally, maybe if you ordered through Amazon.

Have a look for Hang on back filters for nano tanks, I know they make them.
I think finnex might make one but I can't remember.

I have also heard decent things about these filters. And you really can't get much smaller.

Yeah and Azoo products made a good impression to me because I used their bottled bacteria to cycle my tank in just a week.Up to now, I haven't had a single problem with crashing or losing my cycle. I also use their dechlorinator product which not only treats the water, but also has supplements for the fish.
