So I've never done saltwater before, I've helped with the schools 20g but no experience otherwise. I only have 5 freshwater tanks and a small brackish tank.
I recently discovered dwarf marine hermits crabs and I'm wondering can I keep a 5.5g tank with just dwarf hermits and some live rock? If so how complex would the set up have to be?

I don't want any coral or fish.

Not complex at all. Just a normal HOB filter (I'd say about 150 GPH) and 5-6 pounds of live rock and live sand. Saltwater is very similar to freshwater. Really the only big difference is the addition of keeping salinity stable.

    Hermits are super easy.

Message me if you have any questions. Once you have salinity mastered, you're set. ;)
