the amazon swords might grow too big for your tank but it should be fine if you trim the leaves that grow too large.

Most swords get too large for smaller tanks, I would suggest in their place something like crypt wendtiI or undulata. They are slow growing and have really nice contrasting colors and textures, and won't take over small tanks as easily.

what about instead of the swords maybe either Chilensis or a water sprite??

Smaller swords will work, just keep the trimmed if they grow too large.

Water sprite IME doesn't do very well when planted, when I tried it in several tanks it just died. It does much better floating with very little current.

I personally love swords! Could you give some suggestions?

Red melon (Echinodorus osiris) is my personal favorite.

Yup. Those plants are fine for a 5 gal. The sag might even grow out of the tank if given proper nutrients and lighting.

I have 2 swords in my 5gal Betta tank, they are very long but the longest leaves don't come out of the water, they just bend over gently and create a nice bit of shade for my betta!
