In the near(ish) future, I hope to get a 46L Fluval Edge.

I was told that bettas and chilli rasboras would not be compatible. Is this true? Is it because of the chilli rasbora's bright colour?

    Could I stock it:

    1 betta
    10 chilli Rasboras

    1 Sparkling Gourami
    10 chilli rasboras

Are honey gouramis to big/active for a tank of this size?

Would a betta work in that tank? There is a gap which the could breathe from. If not would a sparkling gourami work?

If none of these will work, what centerpiece could live with celestial pearl danios, or chilli rasboras? Are there any other shoaling species that would worK?

    Good morning,

I prefer to keep bettas in a heated, filtered aquarium of their own. They do not always appreciate tank mates of any kind. It depends on the betta. Not a species I would recommend as a community fish.

I'm sure others will respond before long with other options.

Ok, thanks! If I was to not get a betta, could I get endlers? (Just males, unless my LFS will take them in!) I know they can overpopulate. Would it work?

Based on the cost of the edge, I have decided to go with an aquaEL 30L Shrimp tank. Now I need to decide what to stock it with :)
