@ You should seriously consider going to Reefapalooza! I've only been to the Orlando event once but it's really growing. When I was out there I was at about a dozen garage stores in Flordia. Granted I do not believe I was near where you are, there is probably someone or a few people of the 60,000 who have coral operations. One guy I met has been growing captive corals for 30 years out of his garage in Fl.

I'm sure someone is doing it in Ontario also. The hobby is huge... I mean Tidal Gardens is a green house in Ohio haha. I think we all know Than Thein

I didn't even know about reefapalooza! I'm definitely going next year! It's around an hour's drive at the most.

Oh my god! You have to make the drive next year!!!! It's in April. As of now my store has a booth so hopefully I'll be able to go.. It's the biggest frag swap around... anyone in Ca or Fl NEEDS to go.

Your best bet is to go the last day when stores are packing up and make low ball offers on entire trays of corals. You can even get the Kessils and other light systems for CHEAP at this event because it's "one time use" Every big name brand is out there selling everything cheap to get business. It's just a great show. But as I was saying those low ball offers on people who do not want to bring coral back home and pack things up usually will sell it for cheap cheap cause they've already made so so much cash haha. But you kinda have to go first day to see the really really exotic stuff. I bring about $500 just to have available if I need it... everything is there and it's the best of the best captive.

I'm really bummed. My tank is starting to look like . More specifically my hairy . Man does bryopsis ever spread fast. I'm almost outta salt as well. Mixed up 5 gallons last night to do a pwc today and woke up to a pond in my living room. I have only ever checked ammo, nitrites, nitrates, and ph. Never added any suppliments to my water either. Just been using IO salt. I now have a red sea pro test kit for calcium, alkalinity, and mag. Tuesday I'll be getting two little fishes C-balance it's a two part and some Marine snow. I also have a 64oz jug of tech m that I'll be using to try and beat out this bryopsis. Pretty sure I also ordered a salifert phosphate test kit. Before dosing tech m should I try manually pulling off bryopsis off the glass or just let the tech m go at it? I cannot remove rocks and also syphoning while scraping will be quite a challenge with 1 hand

Time to dose Calcium and Akalinity huh? hard corals kinda need that stuff daily haha

I don't sell a hard coral without making sure people have a 2-part like B-Ionic

Well I ran tests on my water yesterday. Mind you I haven't added anything to it at all. Just using IO salt and these are my results

API Tests
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrites: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 5 ppm

Red Sea Pro Tests
Alk/DKH: 9.8
CA: 410
Mag: 1320

Salifert Phosphate test
Not really sure but less than .03

Sometime this weekend I'm going to do another 5 gal pwc and remove the filter pads from my aquaclear completely. I removed the sponge already a few days ago. I still have purigen and rowaphos in it. I also plan on cleaning my power heads. Then I plan on raising the mag up 100ppm each day using tech m in hopes to get rid of this bryopsis. This weekend my LFS has a 5x points even going on. I went the other day to get another bucket of salt as I was completely out. I ended up just getting a bag of salt to last so that I could get the bucket this weekend. It's only a bucket of salt but I wanted to get in on the 5x points event. You get a point for every dollar spent. The cashier was the one that informed me of this and said that I was already at 2400 and something points and that when I get to 3000 I get $100 off. I asked $100 off what and she said anything so my plan is to, when I get to 3000 either use that $100 to either finish stocking my tank or maybe get a new power head. I'm thinking tho I'll use it for fish because I can get the power heads much cheaper online. I'm not adding any more livestock tho until I am done raising my mag levels and have gotten rid of this bryopsis. Just to be safe.

jbegos how's your tank coming along?

Haven't been on in awhile. I had a surgery at the beginning of March and it didn't really go as planned. During my recovery I slacked a bit on my maintenance but everything's alive still and I do have a few new additions. The tank just isn't as clean looking as I'd like it to be but I did get rid of the bryopsis I had. Slowly tho I'm now trying to rid other algae that's in the tank. It's just green turf or some kind of hair algae I guess. Anyhow, the additions I have added are a few different mushrooms, zoas, a green candy cane frag and a frog spawn frag. Also added a flame angel. Once I found out my tank was too small for a blue hippo tang I either had planned for a coral beauty or flame angel. That was back when I had planned for fowlr. I still want a 6 line wrasse but I think I may be pushing it already. The flame angel tho seems to be doing ok with the corals tho. I also added a few snails hoping they'd clear up some of the algae. Or alergies as my 5yo calls them but they're either not as hungry as I thought they'd be or not interested in the strain of algae. Also at one point I had 2 zebra hermits and 2 peppermint shrimp. Have only seen 1 of each in quite awhile but my one hermit did relocate to a bigger home. Poor guy. Compared to his old shell, his new one must be like carrying an apartment building lol. Also yesterday I found a tiny star fish on my glass. No clue were he came from but he's tiny. About the size of my 5yo fingernail and he's missing a point. Not sure what kind of star it us. I took my son to Ripleys aquarium two weeks ago and he loved it. Soon were gonna clean out the old biocube and set it up for him.
