40 Watt Led For 10 Gallon

I'm sick of replacing the 25watt income decent lights every other month on my 10 gallon unplanted tank and I say my location store have these 4.5 watt led bulbs (equivalent to 40 watt) on sale. My tabk lid takes 2 at a time. Is that too much for the fish. It's definitly a little brighter then wjat I had but it's hard for me to tell because I did have tinted blue lights for a while. Thanks k you for any help

Why are you replacing your light bulbs every other month? I think LEDs are better too!

It would probably be okay. If it's too bright for the fish, you can always add some floating plants or decor to make it dimmer, or add some driftwood that'll release tannins and dI'm the tank.

Since your tank isn't planted, just be sure to control the amount of time the light is on so you don't get algae!

I'm not sure exactly why I have tI template them so often but I want to blame the heat they produce. They evaporate about 2 gallons a month Houten of the tank. The LEDs are cooler so I won't have to worry about refilling it as much.

I just went to home Depot and bought a dimmer switch adapter and made the fish tank lid disable so I can setell it to any brightness I want. I love it now

How often are you doing water changes and how much are you changing? I'd say 2 gallons a month evaporating really isn't bad, that could be due to the room/air conditions as well.

That's us usualy how I change the Watters because I don't want to add more than 2 gallons of fresh water at a time

Why not? Larger changes are almost always better for the fish, as long as the new water is close in water parameters (pH and temp) to the tank water.

That's not a good practice. By just topping off the tank, you're not removing any of the waste that is building up in your tank. Evaporation leaves the waste behind.

For the health of your fish, I would do 50% water changes weekly. You shouldn't have to top off water anymore.

Can you test your water for nitrates? Big water changes can be bad for tanks with high nitrates (usually tanks that haven't been properly maintained) as the sudden reduction in nitrates can shock your fish and kill them. If you have high nitrates, you want to do small (5-10%) water changes daily or every other day until you get the nitrates below 40-60 ppm, then you can move to 50% water changes weekly.

What kind of fish do you have in your tanks?
