So for stocking I probably won't get the harlequin rasboras. Thus right now I have 12 lambchop rasboras, 8 peppered corys, 4 nerite snails, 20 rcs, and 3 male guppies. I think I have some fry, may be 2 or 3. I'm thinking that I might breed guppies in my 40 breeder. I think one of my fry is a female however I might purchase a female. I plan on trying to continue the strain I have by trying to find a plain female but I might try to mix up the colors. Amy fry that survive I will grow them out. I will give away the females and leave the pregnant t one. The males I will grow out a bit longer to see their colors. The ones I don't like I will give or sell. Does this sound like a good plan?

My fish and shrimp just arrived, the long awaited moment is here! Sadly I have to go to work but will return around 1pm during my break. I took the fish out and put them in a bucket that way there is more oxygen.

The 20 shrimps were split into 3 bags. When I go home I will start drip acclimating the fish and shrimps.

fissh - Thanks!

Right now the fish when I took them out are pale. This is probably due to the stress but once I put them in the tank in a few days they will color up!

So apparently I got 16 lambchop rasboras and 23 cherry shrimps (-1 died) I ordered 12 Lambchops rasbora and 20 rcs thus I am happy. Starting my drip acclimation;

Ya, those online sellers like to send extras to make up for any possible DOAs.

Congrats on the new fish and shrimps! So exciting! Looking forward to pics!

I really am going to love my lambchops especially since none died I have a total of 16 lambchops which will make a really nice tank due to the medium size school (I feel a large school would be 20+). As for the shrimps even though one died I got 2 extra ones. I think they are starting to breed since some of the shrimps get on top of the other ones. I use to spend $5 on each neocardina shrimp and I got a total of 10 thus I spent $50, and guess what? they died. Next time I'm ordering shrimp I'm ordering from Aquatic Arts!

I think it's looking good. Were the shrimp the last of your stocking?

Yes! This is my stocking right now:
16x lambchop rasboras
8x peppered cories
3x male guppies
4x nerite snails
20~ rcs

So I am thinking about getting a female guppy to start some breeding. DO I have enough room? I will keep the female for 1-2 batches of fry and then will give her away. I will then choose 1-2 females from the 2 batches as breeders. Any other females will be culled. As for the males I will keep them and see which one I like. The ones I don't will be culled. Will this method work? I've did selective breeding with guppies for 3 years till I ended last month. So I know what I'm doing. It looks to be alright since I have a good enough filtration however just wanted some confirmation

Sadly I lost a lambchop due to my AC 50 and I lost at least a rcs from my AC 110. Even though I put a sponge the top part of the intake wasn't really covered. I decided I'm going to tak off my AC 50. I will try to get another sponge for the AC 110. Luckily AC gives you 2 intake tubes so I am going to try to put mesh and then will try to cover with a sponge.

Healthy fish aren't usually killed by the filter. I would be willing to bet it was sick or dead when it got sucked to it.

TexasDomer I think it might go sucked in at night when it was sleeping. Since they mainly just float everywhere. The suction of the 2 filters are very good at suction. I plan on getting another foam so I can cover the whole intake! Due to how gruesome the rasbora looked like I didn't post any pics. The rasbora back was bent it created an S shape along the tail. The eyes were popping out. It wasn't a good sight. As for the guppies is that an ok plan?

Fish don't sleep the same way we do, and it still shouldn't get sucked in if it was healthy, even if it was sleeping. If it was, more people would have fish get sucked in at night.

I would not breed guppies in this tank.

Sorry to hear about the deaths, but looking further back on the post, the tank itself is looking beautiful!

Your tank looks like it has a lot of activity when you feed.

Yep! I love feeding time since all the rasboras and guppies come to the top and then the cories and shrimps will be at the bottom. Of course the cories gets there pellets and the rasboras and guppies get there flakes. The cories and shrimps will eat any leftover flakes on the bottom. Do you think that 4 pellets everyday is good enough for 8 cories? I feed them around 12-1. However during the school year I would have to feed them at 4-5 when I come home. But I will try to get my dad to feed them at 12-1 if he is in the house.

I love how excited fish get for feeding time. Blue Water, my betta, seems to recognize the food container and starts swimming around quickly when she sees it next to her tank.

How big are the pellets? The general rule I was given was feed based on how big their eyes are. I like that rule simply because my betta always acts like she is hungry even seconds after I feed her lol so it kind of keeps me from overfeeding.

The pellets are 1/4 of an inch. I ordered a 9-ounce bottle of Wardley's shrimp pellet from Amazon so they should arrive Saturday or Sunday.

As for shrimp food I got some aquatic arts invertebrate pellets off amazon, everyone loves them, plus they have extra calcium... Also feed shrimp cuisine from hikari... Guppies and shrimp adore that! My rcs all beeline towards it to steal it from the guppies...
Also I like feeding two smaller meals a day vs one larger, I found I have had less issues with bloating and happier more active fish. Any chance you could give them a tiny amount in the am before you leave and then when you get home?
Also, I would assume if you've only been feeding once a day and you just need to change the time there wouldn't be much of an adjustment, you could always have dad feed and her later each day for a few days until you get it to your set time...

Yup I can see a little bit of color orange flashing. Living things are difficult to get a good picture of. I have a gazillion pictures of a blury spotted lizard.

Yep! I have a lot of respect for breeders who take pictures of the fish since they have such a clear beautiful picture while in real life they may have take 50 or so shot since the fishes are always moving. Especially with guppies and its hard to catch all the details on there body and tail

Wow that is a really pretty set up, I want a second tank so bad now! You are making me realize I have seriously sold guppies short, even blurry the colors are amazing!

Do you think you might attempt making a 'tree' with moss and driftwood? I tried and failed badly!

My poor Peppers I keep my tank at 78ish, they don't seem too upset about it though they spawn pretty regularly.

KhulI Loachs can get enough food with Corys in the right conditions: a ton of low growing plants makes the difference, they get really brave when they feel safe from above! My Khuli's went from being rarely seen to always in sight, with plants overhead they became the first ones foraging along the bottom when the food hits the water.

The thing with cories and kuhlis are that they both are bottom feeder. Feeding might not be a problem but they shouldn't be kept together anything under a 55 gallon. Even a 55 might be stretching it. However in a 125 you can easily have 2 schools!
