What about Jaded Ivy lol
Honestly, I'd go for Jade, but whenever I'm in a situation like yours, I put in two pellets on either side of the betta, and they vote for their own name by going to one of the pellets!

OK since school has been canceled two days in a row, (Cause -45c) I decided to add the girls after 2 weeks of staring at each other.
When I first added them the 3 small girls stayed together and hid in a log. They were super peaceful until 5mins. Then BAM someone chose that as their house and the two flew out. Then the one blue female decided to be a guppy and is still swimming right now with the guppies. The other small female has a territory two. She flares with the other female. The big female seems to be the mom just going around checking on the girls. She swam past two small ones flaring at each other like "grow up" LOL. So far no nipping! But who knows what could happen by morning yikes. I do have 2 emergency nets at the tank and 4 betta cups if I ever need it on the morning. The guppies seem to be fine with them and the noodles are being creepy an watching from their hiding spots. I tell you if this fails and the person on Instagram who has a male an female in a 1 gallon works...
Side note: To all the people on Instagram sending me bad/sad/scary sorority stories thanks for not helping with the anxiety. So please share your successful betta sorority stories here!
Also next time I will be patient and wait for petland to have a sorority again...

This may sound a bit wierd, but don't remove any betta because of minor fin damage, it's going to happen. Have some fin medication ready too. Goodluck once again!

I can finally see the pictures, everything looks good! I had a sorority for a while, it didn't turn out well because I ended it as soon as I witnessed one of the girls fighting as soon as I had purchased her. I realized that it was an expense that we did not need to incur at the time.

I also agree with the fins, minor tears is bound to happen eventually, they can get into minor tussles over territory or food, but it shouldn't be an issue unless you notice more severe injuries.

Oh yes I have done my research and learned that's the worst mistake. So far no nipping.

Took an extra 10mins to screen shot them but whatever. And yes I have researched the difference between a "Fight" and a full on fight.

Never had a sorority so I can't give you a success story on one. I have males and females together so its more of a betta community. Lol. NickAu has a sorority though.

I think it’s going great so far! When I set up my first one a few years ago it was a war zone since I didn’t set it up right but yours looks good. Just keep an eye on them and let them have their spats unless someone gets seriously hurt

There is 1 big rule with sororities, there is no such thing as too many plants, Tall plants break up lines of sight and give the girls some place to hide.

ripped fins in a sorority are normal and not a problem as long as the water is super clean and I recommend Indian almond leaf for the tannin's.

I highly doubt that Goldiemom will get on, but if she does. She had a good sorority going in a 20 long

I feel like you just asked the same thing but worded it different lol.

He has like 3 males and 16 females or 6 males and 13 females in a tank together. I think. Something like that, I'm sure my numbers are off

3 males and 16 females. Lol. Even after 3 years its not a stocking I would recommend but has been very successful.

Wouldn't they have trouble going from top to bottom I'm that constantly getting air?

I don't remember but I think you may be right. Her's did really well. I think she had somewhere between 10-13. She got them all at once so that they would all establish territory at the same time when being added, which worked out well.

I think RainBetta has a sorority? She hasn't been active lately though.

david1978 got told his would drown in his 75 gallon by a fish store employee hahaha

david1978
  • #66
Yea they don't drown. Its a common misconception but betta don't actually need to breath air. In a properly oxygenated environment they could go forever with out breathing air. They can breath air but its not a must.

So, I have lost some guppies over the past week for unknown causes ugh. But, still no nipping on any girls! The kuhlis are happy sifting and the girls sometimes search for food with em. Tomorrow i'm going out to get live plants (dont tell my parents ), 12 kuhlI loaches (Because why not?) a zebra snail and some other goodies! I'm thinking about maybe even getting some more bettas one day. But I'm not sure how well that works to add bettas at differnt times. I also have to get a new photo of Jasmine. She has turned into a koi!

I think if I took them out and redid the entire tank destroying the territory should work? But for now ill stick to the stocking of kuhlI loaches and 4 bettas.

This photo has a lot to it:
A noodle photo bombing. But that's a female noodle whos actually getting some eggs in her. ( I hope for baby noodles) Then you can see Jasmine turned into a Koi? Kinda a weird color. Then you can see the tip of Daisys fins have gone black. Then also the guppies have been getting nipped by the bettas.

No judgeing I gotta clean the tank But here is Jade hideing. I may take her out and she has not grown at all and hides the whole time. She clearly does not like being with the other girls. Jasmine was once x2 SMALLer then her and Jasmine is now x2 LARGEr then her. That's a issue.

The noodles have been sexed. This is my female kuhlI who has small green eggs! Now for her to lay them with out any bettas eating them.

Update on Girls:
Still no nipping and it has been 3months! How ever Jasmine has been very dominant and Jade hides a lot. I have to fix this but right now I got other issues. (Issues such as my 10 gallon leaked onto my floor last week and I got tanks all over the house )

An over due update: Jade passed away awhile ago, no clue why. (Runts are scary cause you don't know what's going on inside them) I have added all the noodles as well took my friends loach who actually has a deformed spine from birth! His name is hunchback lol. Everyone seems to be getting along fine still.
Jasmine / Noodle tree!
