38 Gal Stocking

Hey guy’s just wanted some thoughts on stocking my 38 I currently have

10 bloodfin tetras
6 false juliI Corydoras
1 bn albino pleco
And 3 kuhlI loaches

I would really like some centerpiece ideas but any other top mid swimmer idea would be great too as I think my bottom is full as it is

Maybe some sort of gourami? I would suggest an angel but I’m not sure how the tetras would do with it.

Gouramis are pretty awesome. You could do a group of honeys, a single dwarf, or maybe a trio of thicklips or banded gouramis. I would recommend that you get more kuhlis, they really need to be in groups.

- a small group of honey gourami? (Like 3-4?)
- group of sparkling gourami (say around 6?)
- single male dwarf gourami
- a single betta (may do well, especially one that's a little more placid
- a pair of pearl gourami?
- red thicklip gourami? (Often called a red honey gourami.)
- moonlight gourami (maybe a small group?)
- small group of male guppies
- small group of male swordtails (even something like the lyertail swordtails!)


Maybe even something like a shoal of hatchetfish?

I was thinking of doing a group I’m going to my petco tomorrow (their actually pretty good I’m in a small town and the team that work on the fish side are all aquarists) and I definitely plan to add atleast 3 more

Thank you for the input! I love the ideas! I’ll look at the gouramis tomorrow and maybe a betta (not a huge fan of livebearers but maybe some day)

3-4... could do a pair as well IMO. Same for the pearls.
