300W Heater for 35 gallon tank

Hi guys,

I just got the Eheim 300W for my 35 gallon. Is this overkill? I went straight to the 300W because I think it doesn't have to work as hard to raise the temperature up to 84 degree in a 35 gallon. I mean if I go by the 5 watts for gallon then a 150W would work perfectly fine for my tank. Any thoughts?

I think more can never hurt. Just make sure it doesn't fry your fish...

I agreed but I just picked up a 150 Eheim heater that is rated for 53-79 so I should be good now
