30 Gallon First Year Update (late)

So I've been running my first saltwater mixed reef for now a little over a year....2 months over to be exact....and boy has it been filled with highs and lows....I've spent nearly all of my spare money and money I didnt have on corals and other things and I'd say it's fair to say 50 percent of the things I bought ended up dying....many mistakes were made but at this point I can say that of all the tanks I've had over the many years this one has been the most rewarding in terms of the resulting beauty

From this I eventually went to this within 4 months
At this point everything was going great but being greedy I ended up getting a leather coral that would end up destroying my livestock and setting me up for continuous disappointment for months to follow Every Lps starte dying and instead of swallowing my pride and getting rid of it I kept buying more and just kept losing...eventually I thought I would give up on lps and just do leathers....but that proved to not be rewarding....and at this point in was in the middle of a serious hair algae epidemic ...

I finally got rid of the little monster but I still had to deal with the nutrient issue....I kept attempting to introduce new specimens but it always seemed something would come crashing down either a salinity spike or something else....but the past 2 months have given way to a great stability as the hair algae gave way to coraline and my nutrients stabilised....this allowed me to rebuild my lps and in only purchasing the corals I absolutely loved instead of trying to fill my tank out quickly I've come across some beautiful new additions
These vibrant corals are so colorful they almost look fake sometimes....as of now I only want 2 more additions for the tank being a green birdsnest and a yellow octospawn head....I don't have any recent full tank pictures to show everything but I'll be sure to post...my final words would be though I have many regrets in my decisions over the past year I still think it was worth it for this end result

With time it is possible..... it's just a waiting game in many ways
