30 G heater in a 20 G tank

Hego_Damask

I have a 20 gallon high, planted,
community tank. My heater stopped working while I was at work, & I came home to my tank around 66-68 degreees instead of 78. My LFS didn’t have any heaters for a 20 G, but they had a Fluval M100 heater for a 30 G.

My question is will I be okay using this heater ?

Should be absolutely fine. It will just have to work less to get your tank to the right temperature. I’ve always found the M series heaters to be reliable too.

A 100 watt heater is perfectly fine for a 20 gallon tank.

Thank you guys so much for the quick reply. I know dramatic temperatures fluctuations aren’t healthy for fish, so I really wanted to throw this thing in there, however I’m a classic over-thinker / worrier
