3 Tetras Fish One Was Introduced Then The 2, Are They Not Getting Along?

so I bought a single tetra thinking it will fine with by itself but it got lonely so I bought 2 more of the same tetras from a different tank, these 2 were the last of there kind in the tank and they seemed to be swimming around like a bonded pair, nyways when I introduced them all I noticed is that, ... these are my assumptions, the first one I got is male and the two I got after are male and female, seems like the 1 outta of the 2 male to be an aplha if hes not swimming with the "female" hes taunting my other fish, my first first hardly chills with them other than feeding time, the first male gets along fine with the female its the male that looks to be bullying everyone. is this normal schooling fish behaviour , I'm thinking about returning the alpha one and getting a different fish, I just want em not to be lonely. btw if it helpss my fish have black and orange fins sorta look like piranhas with a sorta translucent body

Can you post a picture? That would be very helpful in figuring out what sort of fish you have. And welcome to fishlore!

You can either return the one being singled out or try to add 3 more to see if they school together and they don’t pick on the same fish stressing it out.

could I get different tettras or they have to be the same breed, I can probably only fit like 4 more 3 inche fish in the tank

Same tetras will usually school with their same species. I wouldn't go by the inch per gallon rule. It's supposedly not very accurate.

I wanted to get those highlighter color tetras but tbh these red minor tatras seem to be more entertaining I won't be able to see them in bluye light but ill try to introduce 3 more and see what happens, honestly the one hiding in the cave is my favourite one so I don't wanna give him or her up

how many more tetras do you think I could fit after that . at that point I will have 6 tetras, and a 2 inch cleaner fish in the tank

k well I took your advice and bought 3 more tetras of the same kind
instantly they started to school, I will be observing their behaviour to see what happens, they don't seem to be fighting like before thanks for the advice,
