7170D8E9-1455-4648-8754-BE8F38CB01B8.png I am leaving until Monday and bought this product from petsmart. I saw three reviews, two stating it doesn’t dissolve completely and one said it killed three of his fish. Does anyone have any recommendations about this?

Fish can go well over 2 days without eating. I wouldn't use anything like that if you're just gonna be gone for a couple days.

I would just not feed them for the 2 days. It'll be good for their digestion to fast for a couple days. The only exception would be if you have fry, or some fish that requires a heavy diet like a flowerhorn.

Oh really... I have seven Cory cats in one tank and a betta in another so you suggest just feed them up good today and leave them until Monday?

I urge you to NOT use that product. Your fish will not starve in the length of time you're going to be away.

Yeah those will be juuuuuust fine.

You may not realize this, but fish in captivity are generally overfed. In the wild, these same fish go several days at a time between meals, sometimes a week or more.

I have a betta at my work who doesn't eat on weekends. He's very healthy, healthier than my betta at home, even. Even when there's a 3 day weekend, he's fine.

Already through it out! Thanks so much! Why do pet stores even sell this stuff!

My fish have gone 6 days without eating while I took a trip, 2 days is nothing. Save your money and a trip to the bathroom to flush dead fish.

Don't overfeed them today. That will just foul the water. Just feed them a normal feeding today and a normal feeding when you get home Monday.

Couldn't you have gotten your money back???

They just want to make money.
The product will cause an ammonia spike.
You don't even need to overfeed on the day you go away

You bought it, didn't you?

Most people just aren't aware of how fish metabolism works, and think fish HAVE to eat every day. So companies make these to make a buck off people who go on vacations.

They will be fine and probably happy to see you when you come back.

Why do they sell half gallon bowls on the same end cap as betta fish? Why do they sell heaters that don't have a temperature sensor? Why do they sell fake plants that have sharp needly tips?

Pet stores are the worst.

Don't use them! They're like food in chalk and pollute the waters once you leave them in. If you're so worried, look for a friend or relative to feed your fish and do water changes if needed.

Automatic feeders are also an option too. Not really needed for a weekend away but for long trips it may work if you don't have anyone who can feed while you are gone. If you ever go that route, just test it for a week or two while home still to make sure it works and it is adding an appropriate amount into the tank.

A go away regularly all the time and never lost a fish while gone.
I do suggest if your gone often to get an automatic feeder though.

I leave all my fish for 7-10 days a couple times a year. A few days isn't a problem.
