3 Angelfish? How To Limit Aggression

Ok so I know three angelfish is the worst possible number to have but the place that I ordered from required me to have a certain total for them to ship the angels, so I had to get three. Is there anyway of limiting possible aggression??? They are 5-8 weeks old and are going in a community 45 gallon??? What should I do to make sure no injuries occur?

It is planted btw.

And has a sand substrate

I would say add one more but then you would be overstocked.

Give one back or add a lot of plants.

Right, they would also be in with the 5 zebra and 10 black neons I have

I have 2 angels in a 29 and bickering is normal between angels as long as there's no fin nipping they'll be okay

I will add more plants! I can't return them because I ordered them online but if aggression starts I can find someone to give the third one to. Thanks!

Angelfish that are very young generally don't argue, the three's a crowd is for mature angels that decide the tank isn't big enough or that their tank mates are no longer welcome. Raising them together until they get mature - picking the one or two you like the best (hopefully two males, without needing to spawn is the best way, some angelfish do not get along with other angels even being raised with them) and rehome the others.
You have around 5-6 months before you will have to really fight about that, in that time a bunch of things can happen but you will also have time to figure out your favorite(s) and who works with who.

You might find one to be a jerk to the others, it makes it much easier when arguing happens because otherwise fish can die from injuries inflicted. However you have some time, or should, before that pointed based on their current size - I have successful tanks of many angels, I also have a pair of angels that the male went after and killed two angels that he felt were a threat, because they were greeting me near the corner the pair claimed. You never know what they are going to act like until you see.

Sometimes fish can fight for territory so you could try to rearrange your fish tank. I saw this online some where but I never tried it but it might work.

It does work, it’s typically used to introduce new cichlids(which angelfish are) to a new aquarium. They also recommend turning off the light and turning it back on after he decoration s are rearranged and the new fish is added. This disorients the fish enough they don’t notice the new fish. This won’t work for the OP given that they are already being raised toghether. The best bet has already been stated by mcasella and Sarah.

Ok thanks! I will try these things if it doesn’t work I will rehome.

They would be ok with a gourami to right?

They might, since they are younger they can grow up with it and be more likely to get along.

I recommend pearl gourami with angelfish, they are docile colorful and not fin nippers. Three-spot, opaline, and gold gouramis are know to chase the angelfish and nip at their fins.

Only one DG as you wouldn't easily find a female and male shouldn't be housed together because they are aggressive with other males.

Only one dwarf Gourami with your angels he'll chase the Angels until they get big enough to not be bullied by him anymore it's a pretty good mix
