2nd Bumblebee Catfish

I believe my second bumblebee catfish is dying. He was healthy yesterday but when I went to check on him this morning he's breathing very quickly and moving very slowly aND his eyes areally cloudy. My water parameters are fine. The similarities between the first and second one is they started showing strange symptoms after being fed.

Edit* all other residents of my tank are all appearing to be healthy. With no similar problems

What kind of tank is he in? How many gallons? What are his tank mates? Water temp? Also, what did you feed that seemed to start the symptoms?

He is in a 20 gallon long with 4 african dwarf frogs, a betta, a vampire shrmp and an amano shrimp. When I last checked temp it was at 77 and I had fed it frozen blood worms. The same thing I fed everything else in my rtank

Has the fish's color changed? Does he have any strange issues with his body like a tail bend? how long have you had him before the issues started? I know you said your water is good but what are the Nitrate, Nitrite, and Ammonia at? Sorry for all the questions! Trying to trouble shoot

The fishes color appears to be unchanged from when I had bought him and I had him for a full day before I had noticed "strange" behavior. I've had him at least a day longer than my previous bumble bee who died within 12 hours of getting him

So from what you've told me here is what I'm thinking -
Either he was
A - sick when you got him - Since these guys aren't usually captive bread they could have come to you unhealthy
B - sick because something is off in your water conditions - since everything else in the tank is doing fine this is least likely in my opinion.
C - some type of bacterial infection - Cloudy eyes as far as my knowledge goes usually indicates a bacterial problem. It could be that he already had it and then the stress of acclimation weakened his immune system
I am sorry I can't be of more help but I will watch for updates.

I'm starting to think that it's the fish itself. I went back to the store and he says he's found a couple in the state that my first was in. He's giving me a few in good faith that it's not his distributor

If he's giving you them in good faith I think it's a pretty good bet that they had problems before you got them. I hope your new babies do well!! Good luck and I'd love to hear how they do
