Coradee

Welcome to Fishlore, you have a lovely tank

I dont mean to be negative you have some beautiful corals and have obviously spent a lot of money but the set-up you've described is destined to fail. For what you have, in that size of a tank with no sump, no skimmer it will be almost impossible to make it all work, especially with the SPS's. Maybe go up to at least a 40 or 55 and use the 29 as the sump.

My 40 gallon saltwater is thriving without a sump or skimmer. Then again I only have a clownfish pair and snails. That anemone really looks spectacular under that lighting. I wish you best of luck

Yea I wasnt suggesting that a sump or a skimmer is required for a successful tank. The most successful tank i ever had was without a skimmer, or sand. But with that load and types of corals, I would say that they are pretty much going to be necessary.

It works well for a year long since I never miss a weekly water change. I’m actually planning to get a 75 gallon to transfer everything over from my 29g to it. I also plan to get a sump, a skimmer, a return pump, plumbing parts, and an extra light.

Well, I got a 75g with stand and 30g sump. It’s been a week since my 75 has been running. Everything looks great! I’m planning to get more corals and fish in a couple of months!

Also, I added an extra powerhead for more flow. Now, my tank got over 3,000GPH of flow which is about 41x turnover.
