Your husband is going to kill you!
Lol nah he won't notice much lol. I'm only adding in 1 of everything I ordered, he won't really care as long as I don't overdo it with the leaves. The tank will be a clear Blackwater tank so it won't be too bad with the tannins.

No offence, he sounds more like the kind of person that would call for a divorce.
He would only divorce me if I brought home another dog lol

He doesn't care about animals or their environments. *shrugs* we watch documentaries all the time and every animal he wonders "I wonder what that would taste like" lol
I have 9 parrots, reptiles, dogs, we have 2 tanks, that's all my deal. A person like him can only put up with so much haha

Thanks for the feedback! I know it's so hard to choose between the 3. I'd go nanos eques anyday but they are so hard to find. I've kept almost all if the species I've listed before.
Jumping won't be any issue
Love the splashes but they seem pretty decent sized also.
Will definitely go with cory cats, just to decide what species.
Yeah I wasn't to keen on the otto idea, but maybe a bushynose or smaller fancy pleco
I used to keep ancistrus temminckiI cause we had a local breeder. Wish I could find those again!
Picture of my apisto before the tank had the crash with the stupid eco complete gravel. Ahhh I miss him.

Just placed my tannins aquatics order heheh will post pics when that comes in

Oh what a beautiful little apisto! I'm so sorry about the big crash and loss. Was he an AgassizI (I think that's the other reddish species...?) Or cacatuoides? I have a little female super red cockatoo. Finally got the green light from hubby to set up a 20 long and get another pair so she has a mate! In his eyes the addition of another tank is justifiable since I could make a little money trading or selling the babies to recoup the cost. The male we bought with her was a lovely little thing but only lived 3 days. =( Little Mama, as we call her, has been thriving though thankfully. We've had her a month now. She was turned super bright yellow right after we brought them home but then faded few days after the male passed. I was told those were her breeding colors and she was ready to spawn, which made it just that much more upsetting when we lost the male.

I was looking for one for MONTHS (yes agassiz) and then my lfs had a whole tank of them! I was so happy and he was doing great. He would only eat live black worms and some frozen and I swore he died a few times but he always appeared. But when the tank started to crash that's when everything went, the most sensitive first. It sucks when you loose em (esp when they are 30 bucks a popead lol
I would love to see little apisto babies!!

That really sucks!! My little one definitely gives me the most anxiety and is the most expensive fish I ever bought. My corys are fighting off ich at the moment so I've been watching her like a hawk. I almost pulled her from the tank but was worried about stressing her. So far she seems strong as ever and unphased. *knock on wood* I am sure I will post a thread as I set up her new tank and I'll definitely share if I manage to get babies!

Why? His shipping is $20 too. So great deals.
Too cold right now, have to wait till its warmer to ship. Safer for the fish~

Tannins aquatic order has arrived!!!
These are all so cool! Those huge shell pods are awesome and an apistogramma is going to love living in one. So much cool stuff! I haven't had a chance to boil it yet. Wont be adding too much to the tank. I'll have quite the leftovers

Botanicals are in! Tanks a little murky cause of the algae that I brushed loose from the plant and just particles from the rocks/pods. Boiled my botanicals for an hour and soaking for 24hrs. Put them in the tank and hehehe I went a little nuts lol. I had some extra petrified wood and I thought it would be cool to make some little crevices on my lava rock. If you noticed I put the leaf litter, pods and banana stems in the back of the rock cave (so husband hopefully won't notice the leaves as much LOL) but I think that's a great spot for them anyway. I don't think he'll be to offended by the look of the tank, it looks cool!!! I can't wait to see what the fish do with all the little hiding spots! I'm going out to the fish store today! See what I can find. I'm going to have them order the cory cats. I hope I didnt overdo it, have a before & after pic below. Also put a minI palm frond up top. Tell me what you think

So I'm annoyed, I used a squirt of Acurel F to help bind some of the particles in the water and I was lazy and didnt measure so I used too much and it made the tank cloudy. *smacks head* but it's not harmful and I just put some new purigen in the filter so it should clear up in a day or two. Water parameters are perfect. Ph is 6.4
I was disappointed at the fish store today. Normally they have a bunch of stuff but they had nothing that I wanted. It takes like 40min to get there so I just grabbed some ornamental shrimps and 4 sm black harlequin rasboras. Just to get something in the tank but not on my planned stocking list (but I know rasboras are good Blackwater tankmates)

Neutral regulator + acid regulator
Does that give you stable parameters? I want that pH in my tank but wanted to do it naturally.

I find it's pretty stable. I use it to get it down quickly and then the botanicals/driftwood to help keep it more stable once it lowers. I have to dose every time I do a water change but once you get it down it stays down for a while

Awww I would have been so tempted! My lfs is currently out of cockatoo apistos, which is really good since the tank isn't ready. Hehe. I did pick up the last of my clean up crew for the 29 gallon today. Couldnt decide between a getting a bristlenose or a rubber lip pleco so I got one of each... lol oops. The rubber lip is a bit shy of 2 inches at my best guess and the bn is tiiiny. One inch at the most. He/she is awfully pretty and the rubber lip just looks like a puppy dog. Lol They are in QT with a handful of new nerites. I did resist the powder blue dwarf gourami and the corys. Lol. Probably could have fit the gourami in QT with as tiny as the plecos are but I don't want to have to be doing water changes every day or two. The gourami will be the centerpiece of this tank, the corys, well, those are just hard to walk away from. Lol

Think I messed up my tank with the acurel F. It's still SO milky and cloudy this morning. Really upsetting. And that's after putting in fine filter floss and purigen. Will have to test parameters and do a water change

Did a 10 gallon water change yesterday and just did a 15 gallon water change this morning. Added more beneficial bacteria. Tank is already looking better. I think I'll leave it alone till the middle of next week and then do another water change. But I think it's going to clear up well now. Hopefully. Testing parameters daily. I want this tank to be crystal clear.
It actually looks pretty cool half emptied lol

Cardinals are coming tomorrow at the fish store and hopefully Schwartz cory cats (they didnt have them on the list but they said the Schwartz come in with the assorted) so we'll see if they send them. No one has any minI snowball plecos right now.
Shrimps are good. The dominant rasbora kicked one out so now he hids in the plants

Ugh So very disappointed in my LFS. They are supposed to know what they are doing but I guess they just didnt really care about these guys. SO I order schwartz's Cory Cats, they said they got them in! (Cardinals didnt come due to the virus in China is restricting a lot of fish shipments) go to pick them up and they are THREE different species.
I got them anyway cause I felt bad for them ordering them and putting them aside for me. So w/e. Of course they aren't schooling together. I'll probably end up putting them in my daughters tank until I can get in the species I want. What. The. Heck. *humph*
So I got 2 MelinI

20200205_203504.jpg
1 axelrodI (pink cory) much smaller species

20200205_203454.jpg
And an unknown species I can't seem to figure out. His color is very dull so I'll wait till he colors up

I know, I am always a sucker for taking them home. But I have multiple tanks so it's not really a big deal. But yeah clearly they have no idea what Schwartz look like and I doubt I'd be able to get them through this fish store. They can only come in as assorteds and clearly their version of picking out the Schwartz is a bit off :/ but Schwartz was on the list of what came in. Not ordering through them again

You solved their problem.

If they don't know / don't want to research for themselves I wouldn't buy a single fish or piece of equipment.

They shouldn't be allowed to sell any fish.

They are one of the largest fish stores we have here in our state, but we are actually moving soon and there is one other store that is closer that I like better anyway. I think this will be one of the last times I go to that store, they are main for Saltwater and corals but have a decent fish selection sometimes.
It sucks because there's another store that I was the assistant manager of the fish department and the fish section was superb. One of the best & I kept it in high standards but I quit because the owner was verbally abusive and demeaning and had a stick it too him. We had flatworms in the Saltwater tanks and he refused to believe me and said they were copepods and to stop lying to customers. I'll never go back though, too bad. Nice fish lol

Went to another favorite store of mine, they always have cool stuff.
Saw a tank of these and of course I got one lol he was very inexpensive!
" blue face or steel blue" Apistogramma borellii

20200212_165308.jpg
Hes quite pretty and has been wandering around the tank already. It seems that he is going to do well.
shrimps are gone already :/
Trio of Rasboras are doing well.
One of the female cory cats has a huge infection on her side. Almost looks parasitic, but maybe bacterial. shes very itchy. Ug

20200208_112458.jpg
I believe all the Cory's I got are wild caught. The last species I was able to identify as Virginiae
They've all been showing spawning behavior like crazy.
