29g deep blue glass top

HI everyone, I bought a 29 gallon deep blue aquarium as a kit from the lfs about two months ago and it came with a plastic hood/light, I replaced it with a Finnex planted plus 24/7 and a glass top from deep blue made for the tank.problem is the tank seems to bow in the middle about 1/4" and the glass top will not fit correctly. It's sitting level and on a home made solid built stand made of 2x4 and pine.

From what I read online its normal to have some bowing but I don't know how much is normal... For now I put the light on top of the plastic hood which works ok but I'd like the all glass top for better light spread.
I did email the company about the problem but haven't heard back from them yet, anyone else had this issue? The bowing does worry me a little lol.

 

No, bowing in a glass tank is a very bad thing. It can cause seals to break, or worse, the glass could eventually crack. How is it bowing? In or out? Did it come like this?

 

That's what I was worried about, that a lot of water to clean up! It's bowing outwards, it's been like that since I bought it, the place I bought it from said it was normal and they've since gone out of business. I even had to trim the plastic down on the original plastic hood so it would fit in the recess and it still never opened properly. Measurement from the side and then the middle, the middle is out 1/4" more then the side. Thanks for your help

 

Yeah it's definitely not normal. I would just get a new tank the next time you find a deal on one. Used tanks on Craigslist are often available cheap, as are tanks from your local fish club or sale site.

 

Yup that's what I'll do, I'll keep a close eye on it for the time being but I'll be replacing it soon with a new one, hopefully a 55 gallon, I've been looking on Craigslist but not much for good deals right now but I check it everyday hoping to snag a good deal. Thank for your input junebug!
