I have found a 27 gallon for a good price, and I'm wondering if that is a good size for two Figure 8 puffers OR a few Pea puffers with a couple of mollies? :)

The puffers will kill the mollies as they are carnivorous and territorial. Puffers are a species that you usually keep alone. I can't speak for the figure 8s, but dwarf puffers could definitely fit in that tank. If you're willing to do a brackish setup, spotted puffers are also cute but get quite a bit bigger than the dwarf/pea puffer. A good rule is 5 gallons per pea puffer, so you could do quite a few if you want. Remember that these fish are quite fussy eaters and are not labeled as a "beginner" fish. Remember to have more males than females, but not too many males to a female otherwise she'll get harassed non stop

Agreed, puffers will not be good tankmates.

What are the dimensions of the tank?
