HI at my LFS the owner (close friend) has a 23 year old blue tang. Is this normal for blue tangs or is this rare for them?

According to Wikipedia, blue tangs can live from 8-20 years. I take all information from Wikipedia with a grain of salt, but 23 years doesn't seem outrageous for a blue tang.

There are many fish species that can live a long long time. To achieve this would be a great success in home aquaria, something a zoo or public aquarium would pride itself in. It's quite an achievement IMO. I'm not surprised by it honestly. I'm not sure I'd call it common place, but it does happen here and there with excellent care and/or great luck.
