I have a question about my 20 gallon aquarium. Right now, I have a colony of Red Cherry Shrimp and am wondering if I would be able to add about 10 or so neon tetras. I know that neon tetras one of the smaller species of tetra and I love the colors. However, I have researched and found some sites that say this would work and others that say that the neons would eat the RCS. Just need to make sure that my shrimp colony is safe from other fish. Thanks.

The little ones would definitely get picked off depending on hiding places and how well you feed. The adult shrimp should be good though if you are trying to build a huge colony to sell off stick with just the shrimp.

Ok. That is helpful. I have a carpet of small plants in the front with a sponge filter in the back corner. Then I have a jungle val all through out the back with a java fern in the corner. I also have some rocks in the middle. Along with all that, I have some cholla wood for the baby shrimp. Would that be enough for the RCS to keep producing or would I have to stick to an only shrimp tank?

They could certainly still reproduce and you should be able to raise some in that kind of environment. Like anything else keep a close eye on everything and be prepared to make some changes if you aren’t happy with the progression.
