You want the equipment that would fit a standard 29g tank.

If you want high light, get a nicrew planted 30" and a versa top. That's what I'm running and love it...

All of my tanks have glass lids (Versa-Tops) and when it comes to lighting it depends on the specific tank. The Versa-Top can accommodate a HOB filter. It comes with a plastic sleeve that fits on the back panel. You can either make a cut-out yourself on that sleeve or not use the sleeve at all. Either way it will work.

Nicrew makes decent lights, especially for the price point. The Classic 2nd Gen they make is probably one of the best value light fixtures you can buy.

If you have the budget to do so, Fluval also makes great LED lights. I have an AquaSky (older version) on a 29 gallon and I just ordered an AquaSky 2.0 for my 20G high. AquaSky's are great for low/medium light plants. They are all water resistant too which is great peace of mind. Especially if you are clumsy like me.

Is the tank going to be planted?

I use a light that attaches to the top and those are my lights, they might not work well, but it is cheap and it is fine!

Thanks. I do not have plants but may get some low level plants in the future.
If my tank is 30" long I would need the 29" long glass top? What about the length of the lights? I'm getting confused on the numbers!

I may look into these and see if it will fit the budget.

The versa glass top from Petco does show it's for 20L, 29 & 37 tanks.

You can also get the Aqueon Versa Tops (including the 30”) at Pet Supplies Plus, just in case that chain is easier for you to get to.

Both PSP and Petco frequently have $1 per gallon sales, so you can often pick it up there on the cheap. Either way, if you go through the website/app, you can frequently save quite a bit. This is even more true of PetSmart, though I don’t think they carry the Versa Tops since they carry the Top Fin equivalent.

If you do go through Amazon, use a link from a site or YouTuber who you like to go to Amazon if you can. Doesn’t cost you anything and helps someone else out!

I already have the tank, I got from PSP a few days ago. Petco is closer to home so if I get the Versa top, I will go there.

Thanks.

If you plan to go through Petco, look up the online price (using the website or phone app). They’ll match it in-store and it’s always lower...sometimes significantly lower.

I went ahead and got the Versa 30" glass top from Petco for $18.

Thanks all.
