20 G Long Build!

I will soon be starting a 20 gallon long that will be stocked with a couple of Zebra Danios, Neon Tetras, 1 Glowlight Tetra, a Dwarf Crayfish and an adult Rabbit Snail. I know that’s a bit overstocked but I’ve got very little room for tanks and have to do with what I have! I’ve already got some natural rocks and a few live plants that I will be transferring from my 10 gallon into the new 20 gallon (picture included). Any suggestions for other aquascaping items or tips? Thanks!

1 glowlight tetra as in one fish or one school? Glowlight tetra need to be in a school of 6 or more, preferably 10 or more.

I like that substrate btw

Yes just one I originally had 3 Neons and 3 Glowlights and they all schooled together but the other 2 Glowlights died and I don’t know why! The others are all okay now though. I had already planned on getting more when I move everyone over.
Thank you! I got it at PetSmart

Zebra Danios are a schooling fish and need to be in a group of 6+. Same thing with Neons and Glowlights. Glowlights are also not very temperature compatible with Neons and the Danios which prefer cooler water

I’ve got 7 Danios and I keep everyone right around 75 degrees and they all seem to be perfectly active and healthy (although a bit cramped which is where the 20 gallon comes into play).

Thank you! Yours is very nice and everybody looks happy I’m super excited about getting mine started. I feel like everyone is so cramped right now and I’ll be able to take a sigh of relief once they have more room!

I also forgot my Cory’s! I’ve got three right now but might get more later

Hey it is my absolute pleasure to help you out and if you have any questions please feel free to ask me personally from what you said about the types of fish that you are going to get I don't think that it's going to be too much but just remember that your fish do end up growing, so just keep that in mind because in the long run that will sort of become a little bit of a problem but if you're beginning with a 20 gallon long tank that's fine that's what I began with and I have all sorts of fish in there at the same time lol. I am Sebastian by the way nice to meet you.

I also forgot my Cory’s! I’ve got three right now but might get more later
OMG I love Cory's!! I have two albinos I used to have a panda and a skunk but after Hurricane Irma I lost literally over 30 of my fish which were in three aquariums so right now I'm starting fresh with my 20 gallon long tank and I am going to upgrade to a 75 gallon within the next month

Omg that’s terrible! Sorry you had to go through that! We just went through Harvey but I thankfully didn’t lose any one.
Corys are literally the raddest little dudes ever! Those and my Rabbit Snail are admittedly my favorites that I have right now lol They’re so fun to watch! I ultimately want the biggest tank possible (obviously) but just don’t have the room at the moment. I’ve been brainstorming ways to rearrange furniture in order to get something bigger though lol!

I am so sorry that you had to go through Harvey but I'm glad that you are okay and that nothing bad really happened to your fish. Just remember when it comes to Cory's and Danio's you want to have them in a school I believe of five six maybe seven of them. I know it seems like a lot but that's what a lot of people have been telling me here I used to own to albino Cory catfish for almost a year and they were completely fine. I have never heard of a rabbit snail before and I do agree with you I want to own the biggest tank possible. I have enough space in my house for like at least six or seven aquariums. I used to have 3, but right now I am down to my 20 gallon long tank and an empty 10 gallon tank I want to get a 75 gallon and with my 20 gallon I will probably keep the fish that I have in there right now. I do have a 13 month old pleco that's about 8 to 9 inches that when I want to put in my 75 gallon. He was the first fish I ever got

Yeah I’ve realized that the Cory’s almost never leave each other’s sides and I think a few more together would look better and make them happier. I also really like Plecos and would love to get some eventually! I’ll try to get a good picture of my Rabbit Snail, Mervin, later on

Yeah I've also realize that they love being next to each other and it's really really cute and as for my pleco I will send you a picture of him from a few months ago

He’s so cool! I think I find myself being drawn more to inverts and bottom dwellers more than anything else lol I actually have a picture of my snail from a couple days ago, she’s not very photogenic!

Rabbits are so cool! They’re super fun to watch and pretty active compared to other snails. I’ve seen it recommended 10 gallons per snail because they can get up to 4 inches long and I would say that’s probably about right, at least from what I’ve seen with mine. They’re also pretty decent algae eaters (although nothing beats nerites for that purpose lol) and they especially LOVE brown diatoms. And blanched spinach honestly if I could have a giant tank with nothing but Rabbit Snails, I would totally do it!
