Hey all

So I'm two weeks into my fish less cycle now and only getting ammonia readings. I dosed to 3ppm, it seems like it's gone down slightly though it's really hard to compare a reading today to a reading from w weeks ago. PH is about 7.4 and temp is 77.5. I'm pretty patient but uncertain as to why I still have no reading other than ammonia Any thoughts?

I think it's about patience... you could raise the temp while it's fishless. I assume you're not using bottled bacteria?

what filter are you using?

It can take a little while with out any starter bacteria.. add just a pinch of fish food. Also, if you filter doesn't aerate the surface, adding an air-stone may help.

It takes about twice as long at 78 degrees is it does at 88 degrees.

I already have three heaters so I'm not in the mood to buy another =/ the two for the 20 gallon are preset too =/

I should mention I'm using an aquaclear 50 and QuietFlow 10 for now. I'll probably remove the QuietFlow once filtered.

Removing a filter will remove some of the bacteria.
If you don't plan on leaving on the tank, I'd remove it now.
