2 Questions for Betta Breeders

I've got a couple questions for my fellow betta breeders!

The first, I was curious and couldn't find much online about this, I was wondering, how long after one spawn, would it take for a male betta to breed again with a different female? Obviously, we typically keep them with the eggs/fry until the fry are free swimming, so how long would it take one to him to be ready to spawn again after being removed?

The second is simply: what's your preferred food to feed fry throughout their life? I used rather uncommon choices and wasn't a fan of the results, so I'm looking for something different. Do you change up foods? Do you have a set progression you use? Why? (I know this question gets asked a lot, but I figured I'd ask again, so my apologies)

Thank you! I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts

I'd give the male 3-4 weeks before spawning again. I feed my fry bbs for their first meal up until around 1-2 months until they can start eating frozen foods and flakes

Out of curiosity, why do you give 3-4 weeks? Like what’s the thoughts/science behind it? (Genuine question, not trying to go against what you said)

Abs that seems like a pretty common feeding plan - so I take it it works well? XD

3 or 4 weeks so the fish can recover properly its a pretty brutal process for the fish especially the male not eating for that long. i like feeding microworms and bbs till 4 or 5 weeks then throw everything at them they can fit in their mouth starting with frozen bbs and daphnia and vibrabites crushed down being my favourite for weaning onto dry food

Ah, very true! Thank you!

And yeah, that seems like a good feeding plan!

Hi! I'm pretty new to breeding, so I have a question for you. I bred my male 2 weeks, 4 days ago. The day the fry were free swimming and I put him back in his own tank, he started building a bubble nest again and has been flaring at the females in the tank next to him and building his nest still to this day. Should I still wait another week or so or does he seem healed and ready to go?

How does he look? Have you been conditioning him up ready to go again? If he looks good and healthy and put weight back on from last time he could probably go again.but I would probably block his view of the girls for a week first and let him rest up properly and feed him well.

Okay thanks! I'll block his view for now. I've decided to breed him again next week which gives him a full 4 weeks since the last time. He looks perfectly healthy and energetic, has a good appetite. I feed them live blackworms and he's been eating well since a day or 2 after the fry were free swimming and I pulled him.
