Here are photos of the two new Discus I just picked up this morning. They are solids, one is a blue and the other yellow. Their names are Ricky Blue and Lucy Lemon!
There are pretty neat guys and Ricky is now the largest Discus in the tank. Will do a youtube video when I can get some peace and quite in the house! lol..

HI Nicole
well lil casper... is doing good, now going after the two new fish but I'm going to let them sort it out. The new blue one, called Ricky Blue is the largest in the tank, probably around 3.5-4 inches round and I thought that he would defend himself against any others, espcially Casper. But he is very shy and staying in a corner and not eating much at all. I guess he knows that its not HIS tank and that over time he will feel comfortable about being there. Casper and the others chase him back into the corner whenever he ventures out. Poor guy...
Lil Casper hasnt changed in color yet...stilll waiting to see some kind of hint of the color he will be.. guess he is just a young'n and not showing any yet. Is it possible that his color will always stay this way?
Did you notice the blotch of darker color on Ricky Blue's side? I'm wondering what that is, a bruise? It was there when he got into the tank. At the pet store the worker was very gentle with them tho.

LOL.. cute Tom. Well my husband picked out Ricky and Lucy in honor of the comedy duo. I added the Ricky Blue ( and he is a sad one..) and Lucy Lemon.

Kate,
I went back and had another look and yes I do notice those marks,I'm not sure going by the pics, but it could be caused through the whole moving/shipping process.Keep an eye on it in case of any changes,How many wc are you currently doing? This is the same fish that is isolating itself so I would be doing lots wc for now.Keep us updated on this fish

HI Nicole
currently I am only doing one 50% water change every monday. I vacumn the gravel and get up every last piece of debris and take my time. The water perimeters have been great with 0 ammonnia 0 nitrite and about a 10 nitrate(almost, alittle less) at the time of wc. I have added another HOB aquaclear filter so now have two running. I check with water tests twice a week.
Since Ricky Blue was brought into the shop by the breeder on wednsday and I brought him home on thursday its possible it happened during handling at that time. the girl at the shop was very gentle with getting them into the net, but it could have happened while she was taking it out of the net to the bag. I will watch the mark to see if it changes. I bought some frozen krill yesterday and fed them that for the first time. Ricky blue does eat now, but very little. The others still chase him back into the corner. Strange him being the biggest one too. I wish I could judge how old they are by their sizes. Ricky Blue is about 4 inches round. How old do you think he is? And I wonder how long he was at the breeders? Could he have been a breeder since most of the fish from him have been all pretty much the same size, like just under 3 inches.

I think it could have happened (if this is what the marks are from)during transport to pet shop.Just wanting you to keep an eye on it in case of any infection setting in.
Kate you are going to hate me but I would be doing wc at least 3x a week. You don't have to vac out gravel ect every time.
He is the largest so probaply feels out of place, give him time he'll settle.
Yeah I wander how long he was the breeders to? and if there was any quarantene time.Who knows how much shipping around!!!
Anyway not to worry keep water clean and watch out for any infection or signs of illness. If any arise you will be on top of it.

HI Nicole
thanks... I understand about the wc's. I just feel that while the water perimeters are fine, that going with once a week for now is ok. I know that is against all the rules, but so far, so good. If need be, I will do a 50% wc twice a week and see how that goes. ;D

HI Nicole, nice to catch up with you when your online.. the time difference and all!
Ricky Blue is still not eating and just for the most part stays in the corner of the tank stareing at the back wall. I don't notice the mark on his side anymore. He has colored up beautifully, but still not eating. I will head out in an hour to go pick up the live brine shrimp for him and try that. I really don't feel that I will have success with it tho. I have been trying: omega one freeze dried bloodworms... HakarI gold, frozen brine shrimp with vitimins, HakarI frozen Krill. Nothing seems to wet his appitite.
So I don't know what to do, I hope he gets over his depression, because that is exactly what he is acting like. poor guy...

Hey Kate, I'm glad to hear his marks have gone..Okay just curious..What colour is his feces??Is it dark, clear?? His colour is good..Mmm could just be a nervous fish,I have one that still stays in the background after 6mnths although does come out at feeding times..Have you tried bloodworms?

HI Nicole
can't tell what his feces color is, I hardly seem them at the right moment I guess. lol..I have tried Omega One freeze dried bloodworms and still no interest. I just got back from the Petstore where they had ordered some live brine shrimp for me from the breeder who raised him. I have a huge bag that I ended up putting into a breeder net in a now empty 10 gallon tank. I put my male betta from there into another 10 gallon divided tank with the female for now. I haven't tried feeding them to him yet, since I already did a morning feeding but will try them the next time feeding comes. Other than him not eating.. and interacting he looks good. So will just have to watch, wait and see.
thanks, ~ kate
