2 Male German Blue Rams. Question about weird behavior.

So a week ago, I got a pair of German Blue Rams from a LFS. The staff adviced me to get two males because I was not intending to breed them. He said as long as my tank has enough space, the two males will mark their own territory and flash/ram at each other once in a while.

However, it has been one week, and the two male rams I got are like best buddies, always by each others side. Although, one of them is obviously the more dominant one, as it is much more colorful than the other male (and will sometime chase the other one away).

I am starting to think that I actually got a male/female pair? I visited the same LFS yesterday and the staff told me that the behavior is normal and they are indeed both males. Can any ram experts out there confirm this?

You'd need to post nice clear pictures of each of the rams, we can't identify the genders by a description of behavoir alone. Also, its only been a week, temperments can change drastically over time. They may tolerate each other for now, that may change in a couple months.
Also what size tank are they being kept in?
I wouldn't worry about breeding anyhow, even if you did have a m/f pair that decided to breed, if there are other fish in the tank they'll likely eat all the eggs/fry.

Will post pics once I get home! It’s a 50g community tank. I don’t want them to breed because I’ve heard that the dad ram may kill other fish in the tank while hes guarding his offspring.

They sure dont sound like experts.
Do you mean the LFS staff? It felt kinda “fishy” because he told me the two males would be territorial against one another when I bought them. But when I went back a week later to ask him about the weird behaviour, he claimed that it is normal ram behavior. So he kinda conflicted himself.

Heres a picture of one of my rams; they're both female. The most notable difference is the females have that pink belly. Mine stay together all the time aswell with the occasional bicker and I've had them for months

One way to sex rams is the male will have no shimmer in his black spot where females do in the pic male on the left and the other 4 are female

I find that not to be true all the time as my male Franklin has shimmer in his black spot!
