I have a 2 gallon fishbowl, Walstad method heavy planted and only snails live in there for now. I’ve been kind of cycling it for the past year. Meaning I add some fish food here and there (once a month). The plants are out of control I trimmed a lot of them yesterday and once again I check the water parameters and I get -
PH 7.4-7.6
Ammonia 0
Nitri 0
Nitra 0

I believe I need some traces of Nitrate but whenever I check (every 3 months or so) I get all 0
I wanted to add 5-10 cherry shrimp but I don’t know if the water is ok ?

I think u have the perfect balance. Not a shrimp keeper but I’m sure the shrimp keepers will b interested in knowing your GH and KH to see if shrimp will work.

After a year your tank will likely be cycled. Seeing nitrates is an indicator of that, but with such heavy planting it is possible and likely that your nitrates are being taken in by the plants.

Seeing nitrates is a sign of a cycled tank but a tank doesn't have to have them. I suspect it will be safe to go ahead and put your shrimp in there. I do recommend you drip acclimate them.
