Hello everyone
I have a 55 gallon tank running a fluval 307 with a spray bar. It has been running for about 3 mouth and i dont think it filtering the tank properly so I have brough another canister.
I was just wondering if anyone can help me with placement of the inlet and outlet and if I can still use spray bar
Thanks

What makes you think it isn't filtering the tank properly?

What media are you running inside the canister? I would add a sponge filter instead of another can.

Yes you can use spray bars or nozzles or a combination. I have a spray bar on one end and a standard Fluval nozzle outlet at the other. Intakes close to each end as well. Use whatever method you prefer to get the flow and circulation that you want.

It's already been bought.

I run a 406 and an AC70 on my 55 along with a single corner and a dual sponge filter... keep the 307 and add an HOB at the opposite end of the fluval return.

Mine is something like this. Green is how the water circulates. The blue star is a powerhead (optional) that increases the strength of the circulation.

There are numerous ways to set it up so you get good circulation and filtration. With spray bars and HOBs you can even do vertical rather than horizontal circulation. Just experiment and observe the water flow until you're happy with it and it's best not to cut any new hoses to length until then.

Two canisters, one Fluval with its standard nozzle outlet and one Eheim with its standard spray bar.

I would remove the bags of carbon and add another layer of foam sponge in it's place.

Amazon has 2" sheets of 30ppi foam from the seller Aquaneat. I have bought their 20ppi and 30ppi sheets and used them in my canisters.

Since you have the Biohome, consider removing the carbon and adding a layer of 30ppi foam in the basket below the one with Biohome. The 30ppi layer will catch a surprising amount of much in my experience.
