2 Angelfish acting as a pair

I have 2 angelfish a black one and a striped white one and I don't know if their female or male I got them from a local petsmart and they were separated there but In my community tank they seem to be acting as a pair where ever the black one goes the white one follows it but the other fish are 4 glofish and 1 neon tetra and I don't know much about angelfish and I was wondering if I can also get informed about them.

Once angelfish are fully grown they can eat neon tetras. They also need warmer water than neons.

What kind of glo fish are they? If they are the tiger barbs they may nip at the angels.

glofish tetras and what temperatures would they need since I have 1 heater in there which is 150 watts and it works very well and very fast on my tank

Angel fish do best around 78-80f while neons need water below 75f. 70-73f is best for neons.

You need either to get rid of the neons and get cardinals or just get rid of them period. Glo-fish need s special light, so I hope that the special light isn't what you have because angels don't like nor need that kind of light.

The glo fish will only glow under a certain light but they don't need a certain light to live, only for our viewing pleasure

That's dumb...I hate them even more now. As for the angels they are likely pairing up and finding a spot to lay eggs.

neons nor glo-fish can go in a 5 gallon. Please rehome or return them. Unless you can get a bigger tank.

Neons need 20 gallons minimum and must be kept in a group of 6+ as they are schooling fish

seeming doesn't mean he is happy. Neon's like said above need to be in at least a 20 gallon and in groups of 6 or more.

also is it possible that my neon tetra is eating algae because I see him going up to his decor and sucking something off the plants

I have been an aquarium hobbyist for 3 decades and have been breeding angelfish during all that time very successfully. I not so long ago tried a color enhancement fluorescent tube on my tank. My angel pair spawned normally. As you know, some eggs don't get fertilized and turn white which they pick off and eat. Under the different light spectrum, my female did not recognize them properly and was leaving the dead white ones and eating the fertile ones. I'm only sharing this experience in case you think about doing something unique with the lighting, yet still plan on raising angelfish fry.

As for the angelfish, them following each other around doesn't necessarily equate to breeding. All angels I've had in groups of 2 and regardless of sex they follow each other around. If you want people to try help sex them, pictures would help specifically of the breeding tubes.

As stated already......neons need groups. And I highly doubt your loan neon murdered the other 6. They also should not be kept with angelfish. You should rehome that little fellow.

Are you hoping to breed angels???? If 5 gallons is the best you can do for the neon that means you're unable to provide a grow out tank for baby angels either.

How big are your angels now and what size tank are they in?

I don't want to breed any of my fish but one of my glofish which is egg bound which I got a week ago and I have a lot of marbles at the bottom for them to lay the eggs

The won't lay eggs on marble unless they are desperate.

I wasn't clear about any specific ideals about your post. And I know that angels will stay together in a tank if there are only two whether they are a mated pair or not. I just wanted to share my lighting experience with Angelfish breeding in case it would be helpful.

I wouldn't want to breed them because I don't want to go through a breeding procces but they are barely juveniles

The only for sure way to know what sex an angelfish is when a pair is breeding when they are laying eggs the female will be the one that goes up against the egg spot then the male comes after her releasing sperm but if you're unable to see the spectacle then you can look at their tubes and which is basically where they poop the female will have a bigger and more round tube and the male will have a small and almost knife ish looking tube, hope this helps.

use this

number 4 is their breeding tubes

The other pointers aren't as accurate because all angels can have them.

Those aren't eggs with white strings. They are hatched babies. You have yolk Sacs and wiggling tails. Lol

The fatter thicker breeding tube is the female. The males will be small and pointy.

I think the one on the bottom in the photos is the Male.

Why are you asking if they are Male and female? Clearly they are if you have babies, right? Lol
