my sister has a 7 inch jack dempsey in a plastic 2.5 gallon min bow tank , she has had it there for about 8 months now she got the jack dempsey when it was an inch big , I have read where they say small tanks stunt fishes growth well that is false anyways my question is I have a 10 gallon tank and I wanted to know if the jack dempsey will do good in the 10 gallon tank will it grow any more or not I want my sister to give it to me the fish is healthy

I would give the fish to a pet store, the fish needs at least a 50 gallon

that's still wayyy to smal it will be better in the ten then the 2.5 put jacks really need at least a 55 gallon...but I'm suprised it lived that long in a tank that small

This fish definitely needs to be given back to the store, or transferred to at least a 55 gallon tank as soon as possible. It is suffering terribly in a 2.5 gallon tank.

2.5 gallon shouldn't be used for anything except maybe a betta, baby fish (fry), or tiny fish like neon tetra's (even then no more than 2 or 3).
